The chicks have hatched

Ava walks with Cristina and Meredith as the three discuss Meredith and Derek trying for a baby.

"Try again. Could be a false negative." Cristina tells Meredith as Ava nods her head.

"Maybe you tried too early.What is it, day ten?" Ava ask Meredith.

"Yeah." Meredith tells her sister in law.

"Yeah, totally early.Pee on a bunch of different sticks.Don't let the one stick win." Cristina agrees with Ava.

"Well, it's a scientific test.I hardly think I can bend it to my will." Meredith tells them.

"I'm doing three surgeries today.I did four yesterday. I'm unstoppable.And you got defeated by a piece of plastic covered in urine?Buck up." Cristina tells Meredith as Ava laughs.

"What is this, everybody got paged?" Jackson asks as He,April and Alex join the girls.

"It's that time of year again." Ava tells them.

"The chicks have hatched." Alex adds.

"Is that some sort of a code?" April asks as her and Jackson share a confused look.

"Those chicks." Alex tells them.

"Oh, first-year med students.Too dumb to find the toilet." Cristina says as Meredith and Ava chuckle.

"Good morning.Behind me stand the interns
and residents of tomorrow.Today you will show them what it's like to be a surgeon.When you go into surgery,they go into surgery.When they have a question, you will answer." Richard tells all the residents as they stand and nod.

"it's like court-ordered community service." Cristina says

"I'd rather be Picking up trash off the side of the highway." Meredith says as Ava nods her head agreeing with her sister in law.

"fred wilson, you're with dr. Yang.Kira donnelley, with dr. Grey.Hudson powell, with dr. Kepner.Laurel pinson..." Lexie says.

"mine." Alex whispers as Ava looks at him.

"Laurel, you're... With dr. Karev.Edward taylor, dr. Avery." Lexie says as Edward waves at Jackson as Ava laughs at his expression.

"Really?" Jackson mumbles.

"Liam Anderson your with Dr Shepherd." Lexie says as a tall guy with piercing blue eyes and brown hair waves at Ava as she smiles at him.

"It's nice to meet you Dr Shepherd." Liam says with a smile of his face as he holds out his hand.

"It's nice to meet you too Liam." She says shaking his hand and Jackson watches the two.

"I don't doubt it. I will be picking...my chief resident in a few months....and you're still a prime candidate." Richard says as all the residents turn to him.

"The race for chief resident is on?"Meredith asks.

"Since when?" Alex asks Richard.

"Uh, how long have you been evaluating us?" April asks him.

"Since your first day here." He says to all the residents as they share a look.

"We're with Dr Hunt so he'll be in the E.R." Ava tells Liam as he nods his head and follows her.

Ava walks out with Jackson and the med students.

"morning, dr. Hunt.Doctor-- " Jackson greet them before Owen cuts him off.

"don't." Owen warns him about Callie as he nods his head.

"Brady sullivan, 32.Stable vital signs, complaints of neck and back pains.Possible crush injuries.He was trampled by a horse." The paramedics tell them.
