Ava sat reading over a patients file as Mason walked over to her. "So Aprils ex fiancé is here the one she jilted for me and guess what he's married with a baby of his own now." Mason tells her as she looks at him.

"Matthew is here? That must be awkward for April." Ava says looking at her friend.

"She seemed to be handling it okay. Do you think maybe I should talk to him apologise or something?" Mason says as Ava shook her head at him.

"Definitely not. Look what happened was a long time ago a lots happened and it seems everyone has moved on. So just leave the past alone and focus on your job and your beautiful daughter." Ava tells him as he nods at her.

Ava put on her trauma gown as Bailey and Jackson walked to meet her. "Chief, what's up?" Ava asks looking at Bailey.

"Ben called.We got a GSW coming in." Bailey tells her as Ava studies her husbands face noticing he seemed to put some wall up.

"Are you ready for this?" Jackson asks Bailey as the two share a look.

"Ben called you, too?" Ava asks her husband.

"Yeah, he needs an E.N.T." He tells her.

"Is it bad?"Wait. Is it...Is it someone you know?" Ava asks confused to what the situation was.

"Eric Sterling. 12 years old.Vital signs stable. Airway's intact.No hard signs of vascular injury." The paramedic tells them.

"Police shot him in the neck while he was climbing through a window,but Eric says it was his own house." Ben says to them.

"So, you gonna take those cuffs off or what?!" Ben says angrily as they take Eric to a trauma room.

"He was breaking into a house." The officer tried to argue with Ben.

"He already told you it was his own damn house!" Ben says growing angrier.

"Look,we weren't at the scene,but we were dispatched to guard the perp." The officer says to Ben.

"No, he's not a perp, all right?If you would just listen to him." Ben tells them.

"We have orders, and we're doing our job.The suspect's currently under our..." The officer says as Ben cuts him off.

"His name is Eric." Ben tells them.

"Call X-ray for P.A. and lateral neck films." Bailey calls out to one of the nurses.

"On it!" The nurse tells her.

"Okay. Everybody set?"On my count.One, two, and three." Bailey says as they lift the boy into a gurney.

"We got to get back out there.Are you with us or with them?" The paramedic says to Ben.

"Ben, we got this." Ava tells him.

"Let's go." Ben says as he leaves the three surgeon to work.

"All right, Eric, how you doing?" Jackson asks the young boy.

"I want my mom." He tells them.

"I know. I know.She's on her way.Officer, I need those cuffs off him now, not on." Jackson says to the officer.

"He's still under arrest." The police officer tells him.

"He's unarmed.He's a 12-year-old kid.Take 'em off." Jackson says trying to keep his anger in check.

"I'm not seeing any sign of bullet fragments,no vertebral fractures.I'd like to get a CT angio." Jackson says looking at his wife and Bailey.

"Yeah, but it's such a high burden of radiation for a kid, though." Ava says to the two surgeons.

"So our options are to watch and wait or to operate blind?No, thank you.Let's do the CT.I'll call up." Bailey says to Ava turns around to see a family.
