Ava goes to find Derek and Lexie as Lexie paged her.

As she finds them she sees Amelia with them as her and Derek continue to argue as Lexie stands in the middle looking very uncomfortable as Ava leans against the door.

"It's a Shepherd trait stubbornness that's why we always argue so just ignore them they'll sort it out sooner or later. Lex you go I'll sort these two out." Ava says catching all of their attention as Amelia smiles at her as she walks over and hugs her as Lexie leaves.

Ava hugs her back. "Hey Amy how you doing?" Ava asks her sister as she pulls back from the hug.

"I'm doing better thanks how about you? How's life as a fifth year and chief resident?" Amelia asks Ava.

"Stressful and hard work but it'll be worth it." Ava tells her sister.

"How come you in Seattle?" Ava asks Amelia as she shared a look with Derek.

"Just came to get a consult on a patient." Amelia says as Ava's pager goes off.

"Oh sorry Amy I need to go but how about we meet up for Dinner tonight before you head out?" Ava asks her sister as Amelia nods her head as Ava rushes to the E.R.

"65-year-old woman enters the E.R. in shock.Presents with a pulsatile, expanding abdominal mass.Go." Jackson reads out the card to April.

"Ruptured triple-A.I would take the patient
straight to the O.R.and access the peritoneal cavity through a vertical midline incision." April answers as Ava walks liver to them with Alex at the same time as Meredith.

"Nice." Jackson compliments.

"You guys studying for the oral boards in the middle of the day?" Meredith asks them.

"Just another benefit of having a study buddy.You should get one." April says to Meredith.

"I have one.It's just that my stupid study buddy's too busy trying to save her stupid marriage to actually help me study. How come your not studying with Jackson?" Meredith turns and asks her sister in law.

"He's too much of a distraction anyway it's easier this way I study with Alex and he studies with April." Ava tells her before she gets paged to the E.R again.

Ava helps out with the patient as Callie arrives with Meredith.

"His B.P. was low and his vessels are collapsed.We could only get one good I.V. in." The paramedic tells Ava as she nods her head before turning to the nurse.

"We're gonna have to get another one." Ava tells the nurse.

"For her sake, Meredith Grey better hope she's right,'cause today, today is gonna be a grind.Excuse me. Coming through.Excuse me." Callie says as she goes over to the patient.

"A grind? Really?" The paramedic asks Callie.

"It's a meat grinder.Oh, whatever. Like you
weren't thinking it, too." Callie chuckles as she turns to Ava.

"I'm not going to need you to day Shepherd I need you to keep an eye on my patients though." She tells Ava.

"Seriously this is like one of the best things I've seen in ortho and I thought Meredith decided on General." Ava complains as Callie gives her a look as the shepherd throws her gloves in the bin before storming off.

Ava goes into the observation deck as she watches the meat grinder surgery as she spent the morning catching up on paperwork and checking up and Callie patients.

"There she goes again.She's gonna yack." Alex says as he and Jackson sit either side of Ava.

"I hope she does." Ava snaps watching the surgery as both of them look at her.

"What's gotten into you?" Jackson asks his girlfriend.

"This surgery is incredible and I'm specialising in Ortho I should be on this case but Callie didn't need me because she's got Meredith." Ava says as she pouts as Alex laughs.

"There she goes again." Alex says as the watch Meredith.

"Would you quit it with that, all right?I gotta finish this thing before I go into surgery.Hey, where is your study lackey?" Jackson asks Alex as Ava looks at him.

"Of course the one competent intern in the whole program just so happens to be pregnant and needs surgery for a coronary artery dissection." Alex says as Amelia and Lexie walk in.

"Morgan needs surgery?" Ava asks him as she watches the surgery.

"How do you know about Morgan?" Alex asks her confused.

" one I'm chief resident and two Everybody knows about the pregnant intern, Karev." Ava tells him

"There's my ride." Jackson says as his pager goes off as he pecks Ava on the lips before going to his surgery."Here we go." He says as he leaves.

"If Morgan needs surgery, then why are you here?" Lexie asks him.

"My attending gave me a job...call the boyfriend.I left, like, six messages." Alex says as he looks at his phone.

"Chris is a fourth year at the Cleveland clinic.I mean, you know how busy it gets." Lexie says to him as Ava nods agreeing with her.

"How do you know his name?" Alex asks her but Lexie ignores him.

"They're not just amputating and fitting him for a prosthetic?" Lexie asks as she watches Callie and her sister.

"No.She thinks she's gonna be able to salvage the finger bits." Ava tells them.

"and reattach,because she's cracked." Alex adds as Ava nods her head agreeing with her best friend.

"That's gonna be so much harder." Amelia says.

"You know what else would be harder?Going through the carotid." Lexie says to Amelia.

"For fingers?" Alex laughs as Ava lets out a soft chuckle.

"It would be harder, but there'd be better control than going through the femoral." Amelia says as she leaves quickly with Lexie.

"All right. All right.Come on. Here we go again.Come on, Mer. Just a few chunks.Oh, come on. Just puke already." Alex exclaims as he looks at Ava and they both burst out laughing as they continue to watch Meredith.

Ava was finishing up with her patient files as she saw Jackson and she quickly walked over to him.

"So Dr Avery you kicked Bailey out of your O.R today?" Ava asks him.

"How did you hear about that?" Jackson asks her as he wraps his arms around her waist.

"It's what everyone is talking about I must say I'm impressed I wouldn't have been able to do that Bailey is scary." Ava says as Jackson chuckles as he leans in and kisses Ava.

Callie walks past the couple as she clears her throat as they break apart. "Ava my office 4:00 am don't be late or there will be no Sofia and no cool Ortho or trauma surgeries." Callie orders her as she nods her head as Callie walks away.

"You want to get something to eat and watch a movie?" Jackson asks her.

"Since Amelia is now busy that sounds great." Ava tells Jackson as he looks at her offended.

"Ava Shepherd am I your second choice?" Jackson asks her as she laughs.

"Your always number one." She tells him as she kisses him and they go change out of their scrubs before heading home.
