Somebody That I Used To Know

Ava turned her head as she saw Jackson fast asleep behind her with his arms around her waist placed on her baby bump. Ava was now about 36 weeks pregnant. She held up her phone as she check the time that read 2:42am as she was not able to sleep.

Ava was at the stage of her pregnancy where she was having constant back ache and not being able to sleep as she was uncomfortable.

Ava had gotten out of bed as she went across the hall to the recently decorated nursery that Jackson had put together on his day off. They had decided to keep it neutral as they didn't know the gender of the baby as they went with a grey and white theme.

Ava and Jackson had a house with 5 bedroom each with their own bathroom. It also had a kitchen,Dining room, office space, laundry room,sitting room and another room which the couple had planned to turn into their future children's playroom.

Ava sat in the chair beside the crib daydreaming as she didn't know how long for as Jackson walked into the nursery with just his shorts on and looking half asleep as he looked at his wife. "It's just after 3:00am why are you up so early?" He says as he moves to sit on the arm of the chair.

"The baby is awake and kicking and I couldn't get comfortable." Ava says as she rests her hand on her bump as the baby kicks where her hand is causing her to smile as she takes Jackson's hand placing it where hers just was as the baby kicks again as a smile grows on his lips as he leans over and kisses Ava as she kisses him back.

"What do we got?" Arizona asks as Ava was checking over the patient.

"Ella Holmes, 6, hit by a car, tachycardic and hypotensive." Ava tells Arizona.

"She was on her scooter. She knows she's not supposed to ride it down the hill.I don't know what happened." The woman explains to Arizona as Ava looks over at them.

"Show me the ultrasound." Arizona says to Leah as Ava steps out of the way of the screen.

"Is she gonna be okay?" The woman asks Arizona.

"Are you her mom?" Ava asks looking over at the woman.

"They're out of town." She tells them.

"Intraperitoneal free fluid." Arizona says to Ava.

"Call C.T. and book an O.R. just in case." Ava instructs the nurses.

"Dr. Shepherd-Avery?" Arizona says as Ava looks up at the X-ray

"She's got a supracondylar femur fracture." Ava tells them.

"Pressure's dropping!" Ava tells them.

"What is that?" The woman says as they tend to Ella.

"I can't wait for a C.T. prep her for the O.R." Arizona says as Ava nods in agreement.

"I have to call her parents.What am I supposed to tell them?" The woman asks.

"I'll update you as soon as we know." Leah says to her.

"All right, let's move, people." Ava says to them.

"Let's go." They take Ella up to the O.R.

Ava walks over to the front desk with Alex as Derek calls over to her. "Ava you and Avery got thanksgiving plans?" Derek asks her.

"I don't know I don't think so." Ava tells him.

"Our house at 3." He tells her as as she nods before she gets paged to the O.R.

"You ever done an ex-fix before, Murphy?" Ava says as she exchanges a look with Callie as she nods.

"No." Leah says to Ava.

"Hmm. Try it.Yeah. Right there." Ava says as she hands the drill over to her. "Now the first cortex is hard.Then it'll feel spongy in the middle, and then hard again when you hit the second cortex, okay That's it.Really push through." Ava says to her.

"Uh, okay. It feels spongy." Leah tells Ava as Callie takes over.

"Okay, ease up a bit now. Now the pitch'll change when you hit the cortex, okay?Can you hear it?" Callie says to her.

"Oh, my God." Murphy says as Ava looks under the table as she looks at Callie.

"Okay, you drilled right through her leg into the table." Ava says to them.

"Oh, my God!" Murphy exclaims again.

"No, it's... back it up. Just put the drill in reverse." Callie instructs her as she panics.

"I... I can't..." Murphy says to them.

"Put the drill in reverse!" Ava snaps at her.

"I can't find the... can you just take it?My hand is shaking." Murphy says as Callie looks at Ava.

"Okay, all right.Pull it together..." Callie says to her.

"Can you please just..." Leah says as Ava cuts her off.

"Murphy, pull it together." Ava says to her.

"Murphy!" Callie snaps at her.

"Can you please do something?" Leah says to Arizona as Callie watches them.

"Callie, can you take it yourself?Just give her a few minutes to calm down.Well..." Arizona says as Ava looks between the couple.

"It was her?Ten-plus times! That was her?" Arizona says as Ava looks at the three of them confused.

Ava walked over to Jackson as he looks up a smile appears on his face as he kisses her lightly on the lips as she smiles at him.

"I don't fancy cooking so how about I get take out on my way home and we watch a movie or something." Ava says to Jackson.

"Sounds great." He says to her as he hands his tablet to the nurse.

"I'll get Chinese then." Ava says as she heads to the E.R.

"What have we got?" Owen asks the paramedics as he opens the door to the ambulance and Matthew looks up at him.

"It's Shepherd." Matthew says looking at Owen as they get out of the ambulance as he looks at the patient to see Ava. "She was hit by a car. She was complaining of pain in her abdomen before she fell unconscious."

"Let's get her to trauma one. Page Grey,Robbins and Torres." Owen calls out to the nurses. "And someone find Avery." He says as heads into the trauma room.
