Everybody's Crying Mercy

Ava sat with her back resting against the bathtub as Jackson drew circles on the top her back as he held her hair back.

"How you feeling now?" Jackson asks her as Ava glares up at him.

"I'm tired and I want to go to bed but I can't because every time I want to move I'm sick again you did this." Ava says glaring at him with her tired eyes as Jackson moves to sit beside her.

"I'm sorry I can't do anything to help you." He says as he kisses her head as Ava leans her head against his shoulder as he rests one of his hands on her small bump. "It'll all be worth it." He says to her as he kisses her head again.

Ava was getting ready as Jackson walks into their bathroom reading his phone. "Another text from your mom?" Ava asks him as she finishes braiding her hair.

"Yeah she wants to know how Richard is doing and to know if I'm taking care of you and making sure your eating enough and getting enough rest." Jackson says as he summaries the message showing Ava.

"Well she doesn't need to remind you as you have become this overprotective husband lately." Ava says looking at her husband.

"I haven't." Jackson scoffs as he acts offended making Ava giggles as she kisses him softly on the lips.

"You have and it's nice and I get it but just try give me space to breath." Ava tells him as she goes to get changed.

Ava got a message from owen as she goes to find him as she sees Cristina and Arizona stood in front of the out patients room which had been completely destroyed in the storm.

"Why are we here?" Cristina says as Ava looks over the room.

"So you can see it for yourself so this is not just a concept.There is a hole in this hospital,and it is leaking money." Owen says to them.

"But isn't that what insurance is for?" Arizona says to him.

"They are swamped with storm claims.Now with this outpatient surgery wing gone, all of those patients are now overloading our regular ORs." Owen says to the three women.

"Well, what do you want us to do about it?" Cristina says to Hunt.

"Meet. Make a plan. Be the board." Owen says to them.

"We're all swamped.And Meredith and Derek are on leave.Webber's down." Arizona says to him.

"Yeah, and you and Torres can't be in the same room." Owen says as Ava looks at him.

"I have a patient.You know, right now this hospital needs doctors more than it needs board members." Arizona says to Owen.

"What this hospital needs is both.If you people can't be both, then we are in a lot of trouble." Owen says to them.

"I'll talk to Jackson see what we can do but for now focus on being surgeons." Ava says to them as she heads to the E.R as her pager goes off.

Ava walks into one of the trauma rooms as she had been paged. "Somebody paged me?" Ava asks them as she puts her gloves on.

"Possible Colles' fracture." Murphy says to Ava as she assesses the patient.

"Uh, sir,I need you to wait outside, all rightRight now, she needs you to give us room to work.We need another nurse in here!" Ava says as she shouts out to the nurses

"You're gonna make sure she's all right, right? Kat? Okay?" The guy asks Ava as he tries to talk to his wife.

"All right, I'm gonna show you where you can wait." Ava says to him as she shows him to the waiting room.

Ava went to find Owen as he had paged her as she walks over to the front desk.

"Chief Hunt you paged?" Ava asks him as Callie walks over before he could answer her.

"Owen, why do you keep rescheduling my surgeries?" Callie asks him looking Owen as Ava looks at him too knowing he was up to something.

"Well, let's have a board meeting, and I'll tell you." Owen says to Callie.

"Why can't you tell me right now?" Callie asks him.

"Because I'm busy rescheduling surgeries." Owen says as Callie shares a look with Ava.

"Why?" Ava asks him as the pair look confused.

"Owen?What's this about a purchasing freeze on the NICU budget?" Arizona asks as she walks over for the three of them as Callie pulls a face at her clearly not happy to see her wife as they were still not talking.

"Good. I have three of you here, at least, so maybe we could...Okay." Owen says as he turns around as Callie had walked away.

"Hey.We're not buying the babies' jewelry. We're buying them medicine.Right now, we're low on NICU blankets.That's baby blankets." Arizona tries to reason with him.

"Don't tell me. Tell the board!" Owen exclaims to Arizona as she looks at Ava.

"Hunt, where did my pro bono go?" Jackson says as Ava looks at him as he looks mad.

"Well, I took your advice about transfers, so I found someone at Seattle Pres who could do it." Owen says to Jackson as Arizona walks away as Ava watches the two.

"That is my patient." Jackson tries to argue with Owen.

"Not anymore. Your patient is, uh...Let's see. A gluteal liposuction, with two lipos after that." Owen tells Jackson as he checks his schedule.

"You can't just fill my day with..." Jackson tries to say.

"Of course, I can.It's what a traffic cop does." Owen says as he walks off.

"Gluteal lipo. So that's..." Stephanie asks Jackson who was looking at his wife.

"Sucking butt fat. Can't you say anything to him?" Jackson asks his wife.

"Owen is chief he tried to tell us and none of us listened so now he's trying to make a point so no I can't say anything." Ava says as she pecks his cheek as she heads back to the E.R.

Ava walks down the hall filling out files on the tablet as she runs into Derek as she looks up at him. "What are you doing here?" Ava asks her brother as she tries to ignore the state he was in.

"My wife took our baby and I had no idea where they were and now I'm going to go find an empty on call room and sleep because my son hates to sleep." Derek says to Ava as she nods at him.

"Looks like it maybe shower too you smell." Ava says as she steps back from him.

"You know this will be you and Avery in a few months." Derek says glaring at his younger sister as she shakes her head.

"And when that happens you can make fun of me but right now it's you and not me. Have a nice nap big brother." Ava says as she head down the hallway as Derek goes into one of the on call rooms.

Ava walks into the outpatient section of the hospital as she sees all of the other board members sat down as they all look over at her.

"Took you long enough?" Derek says looking over at her as they all sit shivering as Ava walks over to them.

"I had an actual trauma to see to and I should be in surgery right now but the nurse says it's important so what's going on?" Ava asks them as she looks at Owen and Jackson.

"We're holding a gala to raise money for the hospital." Jackson tells his wife as she rolls her eyes at them.

"Yeah sounds good now I have an actual patient who could be dying so you get my vote fill me in later." Ava says to Jackson as she rushes back to her patient.
