"SEULGI! KANG SEULGI!"

Joohyun shouted ignoring the other polices trying to get her wounds treated. She used her last bit of energy stored to chase after Seulgi who had run away after hearing the sudden news from Yerim. Seulgi passed through the hole on the wall to the street, stumbling a couple of times in the process. Her vision slowly turned blurry from the tears but she tried her best to find a taxi.

Just a few steps away, Joohyun failed to catch up. She witnessed the bear got on the ride. The detective didn't stop to rest, instead, she was busy searching for another one. "Please follow the yellow cab, sir." Joohyun slouched her back and anxiously kept an eye on the vehicle. In her mind was only Seulgi and Seulgi only. The last thing she wanted was the latter getting hurt.

After what seemed like an endless drive for Joohyun, both of the cars came to a stop. It was the orphanage. From her view, everything was gloomy, from the sky to the air surrounding them. A bunch of polices occupied the building with yellow lines wrapping it. The drizzling rain which soon turned into a heavy one made the cold atmosphere freezing as soon as Joohyun stepped out.

Piercing sirens from an ambulance greeted her eardrums. She let herself being poured by the falling droplets in order to search where the younger might be. Finally, a ruckus answered her question. Seulgi was sprinting towards her home passing the polices' watch. Joohyun followed her after showing her ID to one of them.

Honestly saying, her body was almost giving up on her. The fatigue was pretty much unbearable right now. Joohyun hadn't been getting any sleep, she had been running all night and day then almost losing her life some time ago. Now she had to deal with this shit. But all this was worth it if Seulgi was the case.

Creaking the front door open, Seulgi was standing there literally glued on the ground. The polices talked to her and even pulled her arms, hoping she would budge from her spot and leave the crime scene. There was no use, she was stunned from the view in front of her eyes.

Sunmi was dead.

Under her body was a blood pool caused by a hole in her chest. Seulgi's soul seemed to have left her body too. She didn't get the chance to say goodbye to her legal guardian. Sunmi was a mom to her, an older sister, a long-lasting friend. There were still a lot of things she wanted to show her in the future. But all that vanished into thin air in just an evening.

Joohyun watched silently from behind after telling the polices to leave them alone for a while. She inched closer to Seulgi until they stood side by side. Her delicate fingers moved to the bear's hair. Noticing she didn't resist the touch, Joohyun began patting her head gently without a single word.

That was when Seulgi came back to her sense. The emotions bottled up spilled the moment she burst into tears. Her legs weakened, hitting her knees to the floor. Her hands were trying to reach for Sunmi's but Joohyun stopped her from doing so, considering it was still a crime scene. Not knowing how to react, Joohyun gave her a hug to comfort her.

Her crying had turned into muffled sniffling. Joohyun helped her to get up and decided to bring the two of them to the backyard. Arriving in the familiar place, they took cover under the huge oak tree. Their butts made contact with the soft and mushy grass. They were practically drained out, physically and mentally, not to mention almost freezing. Joohyun craned her head to take a look at Seulgi. She wiped the remaining tears with her fingers and caught the younger's lifeless eyes, staring at the dripping rain.

Seulgi never thought her night would be this depressing.
