Life works in weird ways. Sometimes it's a good weird. Like when you meet somebody for the first time and you find out they have five mutual friends with you. Or that you went to the same high school and crossed paths many times before you finally meet.
But sometimes these little moments are bad. It's bad traffic when you're already late for work. It's one bad thing after another happening with no discernable cause. In your case, it was Jenny calling you on your one day off, when you were with Shayne, on the brink of finally getting the closeness that you have been craving for MONTHS with him, and staying on the phone with you until 1:30am.
You moved into the living room area so you could focus on the work at hand and get everything done as soon as possible. However, Jenny didn't have the same idea. She'd start on the work, get side-tracked by a story, and go on about it for far longer than necessary. Because of this, simple tasks that would normally take a max of an hour took up the rest of your night. When you walked back into the bedroom, Shayne was passed out on top of the covers, his mouth hanging open as soft snores reverberated from his throat. "Attractive." You chuckled to yourself, shaking your head at him. You quickly changed into some pajamas and crawled into bed next to him. As you cuddled up to his side, he seemed to wake up just enough to wrap his arms around you and pull you on top of him. You placed a quick kiss to the under side of his jaw and instantly fell asleep.
"We got something, sir!"
"What is it?" Leo sat at his desk, scrolling through some of the photos his new interns got. This was the part of his job he hated. Reviewing other people's work. Most of the time the photos were blurry and it seemed like the kids they hired didn't even know how to hold a camera. He much preferred going out and taking the pictures better. It's what got him his promotion at work. It was what he loved. He looked up from his screen, blinking his eyes a few hard times before focusing on the woman in front of him. Her name was Maria. New. Attractive. And did pretty much anything you asked. Leo smirked at her, leaning on his desk towards her.
"Remember that girl you caught on a date with Chris Evans?"
"(Y/l/n), yes." He nodded, leaning back in his chair and folding his hands on his chest. Maria only smirked, placing a folder on Leo's desk and sliding it towards him. His eyes flicked down to the folder, peeking up at Maria briefly before grabbing the folder and opening it. His brows shot to the ceiling as he sifted through the contents within. The corners of his lips curled up into an evil grin. He looked up through his brows at Maria. "Oh, this will do just fine." He smirked.
"Oh! Look! Damien!" Courtney shouted from the other side of the office. Damien was at his desk, typing down some ideas for a new sketch he had been kicking around with Shayne. He smiled to himself, genuinely happy that his friend was going to see you. Truth be told, he had never seen his best friend this happy in years. Not since his last girlfriend. Shayne went on dates, but none of those girls really brought a 'happiness' to Shayne. He could tell that when Shayne talked about those girls, he was unsure. Like even he didn't think it was going to last. But with you. Shayne had talked about you a lot before you met, being that you were his number one celebrity crush. However, after that night at the club, and especially after you hung out with Shayne for the first time, his daily (y/n) chatter got worse. But in all those rants, in all those small comments about how pretty you looked or how funny something you said was that one day, Damien could see behind Shayne's eyes that there was genuine love and affection towards you.
Courtney ran up to Damien and crouched down next to him. "Look at this article!" She placed her phone on the table and slid it towards Damien. He closed his laptop partially and picked the phone up, his eyes widening at the headline he was reading.
America's Ass Meets Space's Sweetheart: Is this the Marvel-Star Wars Crossover We Didn't Know We Needed?
"Okay?" Damien said, quirking an eyebrow at Courtney. "This article has been out for a couple weeks. It's a publicity stunt."
