The cool night air hit against your skin as you looked out over the balcony. The rapid consumption of your first glass of champagne had done a good job of easing your nerves and you took the time to savor this second glass. Another one of the perks of this hotel was that it overlooked the entirety of downtown LA. The scattering of light from all the buildings put the night sky on the ground, a truly beautiful sight. You leaned your hip against the concrete, crossing your arms to combat the slight nip in the air. Everybody was inside for the most part and the music was significantly softer. This allowed you to have this wonderful moment alone to think. What would you do if you saw Shayne? What would you say? Things were over, but part of you wanted at least a civil friendship with the man. It's what you had before and things worked out fine. You just wanted to be friends again.

Shayne was walking around the main hall, half looking for you, and half looking for Damien or somebody else to talk him out of what he was about to do. He was leaving it up to who he saw first. Letting the universe decide.

As he rounded the dance floor again, a hand caught his arm. He turned around to see Damien with a very concerned look on his face. "Dude, you good?"

"Y-yeah, why..." Shayne stuttered, his breath slightly ragged.

"I don't know, maybe it has to do with the fact that you've been circling the dance floor like a shark for the past half-hour."

"I saw Chris." He blurted out, deciding to get right to the point. "He said that (y/n) misses me and that if I see her, I should talk to her and try to work things out." He wanted to lay everything on the table. Give Damien a good idea of the situation at hand so he could give his best advice.

Damien stared at his friend for a moment before nodding. "I absolutely agree." Damien said. "If you find her, you should talk to her."

Shayne let out a sigh of relief(?), or maybe even fear. "What?"

"I agree with Chris." He shrugged. "You haven't been the same since things ended and you deserve to be happy." He gave his friend a kind smile. "If you see her, take that as a sign and make things right." Shayne shared a look of understanding with his friend. "Besides, I saw her go out to the balcony alone." He winked. Shayne gave Damien a grateful squeeze to his elbow and went off to find you.

You set your glass down on the edge of the railing, the glass nearly empty at this point. You tilted your head back, basking in the peaceful night air.

"Beautiful night." A voice came from behind you. Your head snapped towards the noise, the voice being one you hadn't heard in a very long time. Your heart skipped a beat at the sight in front of you. Shayne looked like an absolute god. Even after you became friends with Shayne, you had never seen him in a suit. The most he would do was a dress shirt and a nice pair of pants. This was.... wow. The suit was perfectly tailored to compliment his fit physique, the European cut shirt and jacket being coupled with a pair of skinny dress pants. And his hair... When you knew him, he had this floppy, Prince-charming-esque, surfer hair; however, along with getting it cut, he had it styled in a way that reminded you of how it looked when you first started watching Smosh. He looked absolutely incredible. The only thing that threw you about his whole appearance was his eyes. They weren't the same inviting, bright blue that they always were. Now they held a dull, grey sadness.

"Yes, it is." You replied, turning to face him. You could feel his eyes look over you for a moment before returning to yours. "I'm glad it turned out this way for tonight."

"Me too..." He took a few steps towards you, joining you at the balcony. "Would've sucked to miss out on such a beautiful view."

"Absolutely." You held the eye contact for a moment longer before breaking away to look out again. You tried to steady your breathing, the proximity of Shayne causing every hair on your body to stand up. There was always this magnetism between you and Shayne. It had been there since the moment you met and to your surprise, it hadn't gone away in the time you were apart.
