You didn't know how it happened, and you didn't care, but you and Shayne were pressed flush against one another.

The music had taken a dramatic shift to something slower and had remained that way for the past few songs. Almost as if the universe wanted to keep this going. Your empty glasses hung loosely at your sides as you pressed yourself to the other's chest. Your hand was hooked against his shoulder, your chin resting against the top of your hand as you swayed. Shayne gently laid his head against yours, his hand pressing against your lower back to pull your closer. Your eyes were closed. You were allowing yourself to enjoy this moment. This absolutely perfect moment that you were convinced was written into the stars for you. Shayne's cologne was your favorite scent in the universe and you were finally able to bask in it again. Every breath was filled with the wonderful scent of sandalwood and pepper. The sensation was something you had cherished the past few months and would continue to do so the rest of your life.

"They're so cute!" Courtney cooed, nuzzling her face into the back of Damien's shoulder. The pair watched from afar as you danced with Shayne.

"I know..." Damien smiled. "I hope things work out this time."

"Do you think they will?" Courtney asked, turning around to grab her drink.

"Well... The best friend side of me is saying 'no' because I don't want him to get hurt again. But my gut is telling me 'yes' because those two belong together." Damien faced Courtney, tearing his eyes away for a moment.

"I don't want him to get hurt either..." Courtney pouted. "But you're right. I have a good feeling about this one too." The two smiled and nodded to each other. Damien looked over his shoulder, locking eyes with Shayne. Shayne smiled and lifted his glass up in the air. Damien smirked and winked to Shayne, cheers-ing his drink to his best friend.

The song slowed to a stop, the brief moment of silence between songs being interrupted by the tempo being picked up. You pulled away from Shayne, looking up and around the room as everybody began moving with the beat. You sighed, sad that your moment with Shayne was over. Your eyes connected to Shayne's, a look of joy and admiration filling his features. He seemed to know what you were thinking as he nodded towards the balcony again.

"Wanna go outside again?" His eyes flicked down to your lips for a moment. "Away from the noise?" You nodded, not breaking the eye contact. Shayne smiled, taking your hand in his and guiding you outside. You took the opportunity to place your glasses on a nearby table and exited the noisy space. When you got outside, you approached the railing, leaning against the brick as you looked out over the LA skyline again. Shayne positioned himself right beside you. You could feel the tips of his jacket brush against your arm. Shayne debated his next move, but decided that he had nothing left to lose. His hand moved up behind you. You felt a shiver run down your spine as his fingers brushed over your back. Sparks flew between you as his hand moved to cup your waist. He pulled your against him. You happily reciprocated the affection and laid your head in the crook of his neck. He rested his head against yours, the two of you snuggling in the brisk LA air.

You wanted to just shut your brain off and enjoy the moment, but your mind was running a mile a minute. The whole situation felt like a dream. Twelve hours ago you thought Shayne would never want to see you again. And now here you were acting like nothing had happened. There was still a sense of guilt and anxiety coursing through your body and it caused you to tense up. Shayne noticed this and squeezed your waist.

"Something wrong?"

You sighed, bringing a hand up to rub your eyes. "I just don't understand."

"Don't understand what?" He asked, turning to face you.

"Why are you here with me? Why is everything just fine now between us?"
