It's pretty hard.
Shirai's idea of a patrol apparently involves teleporting. A lot of teleporting.
She would go from rooftop to rooftop, scanning the streets for trouble. Her eyes worked fast apparently, as she never stayed on one roof for very long. Not even a full minute. Mix of course, was struggling to keep up. They were an hour in, and Mix felt like he needed a ten hour nap.
Mix thinking: We're only a third of the way into our patrol time! I can't keep going like this!
Shirai suddenly appears on the building Mix was taking a breather on. She had moved on ahead, but apparently came back for him.
Shirai: You alright? We can always patrol from the streets if you want.
Mix: N-No.. I'm fine. Just.. needed a quick break is all.
Shirai clearly doubted him, but shrugged it off.
Shirai: If you say so. We'll keep going in five minutes. Sound good?
Mix nodded yes, and they both sat on the edge of the rooftop.
Shirai: So, Mix. What made you switch to the Judgement course all of a sudden?
Mix winced, as if this question punched him in the face.
Mix: I um.. got transferred after a four versus one with Misaka. Wasn't good enough to be a hero, I guess.. hehe...
Shirai: Really..? Wow..
Mix: Yep.. So I'm here now. Judgement in training.. seems I struggle a lot here, too.
Shirai: Nothing's easy, Mix. Especially not at UA. You've just gotta push yourself harder.
Mix: That's what I've been trying to do! But I never get anywhere..
Shirai: Hmmm.. As a fellow teleporter, I can tell you it makes a lot of work to make progress. It's a tough ability.
Mix: Yeah, no kidding.. How'd you get so good at fighting while using it?
Shirai: Experience. I've fought a lot of people and learned. That's really all there is to it.
Mix: Huh.. Makes sense I guess.
Shirai: You'll get there eventually. Who knows, maybe you'll even get to be a hero like you want.
Mix: Yeah... maybe.
Mix appreciated that comment. Well, this whole conversation really. Mix smiled, and Shirai got to her feet.
Shirai: We should get back to work now.
Mix: Oh, yeah. Right.
He got up too.
Shirai: Wanna keep going up here?
Mix: Um... Yes. I can do it.
Shirai grinned.
Shirai: Yeah? Let's find out. Let's go!
She vanishes as she moves on ahead. Mix now not far behind.
