For the next few days, things changed even more for Mix.
During the Judgement patrols, Terrors had started appearing at random times, attacking innocent people or sometimes just standing around. They dealt with them quickly of course, but the fact they had started appearing was concerning. Now instead of going to train with her uncle after patrol, Mix and Morgan patrolled an extra couple hours afterwards, just in case. Then, after hours and hours of patrolling the city, he would go train with the annoyingly fast swordsman.
The training they did was actually starting to show results, to Mix's surprise. He was starting to have faster reaction time, and was getting a little better at hand to hand combat as well, since he lacked a melee weapon.
They also tried training with Frozen Soldier. It was a little more noticeable where they were, as they were using a giant robot snake and human, but they figured it was fine. He wanted to teach Mix some things he could do while inside the soldier, as well as work on learning the merging technique. He wouldn't fully explain what it was though. All he would tell Mix was,
Uncle: It's when we take the strength of ourselves and our mechs, and have them unite as one.
Mix had no idea what that meant, but whenever they tried to do it during training, they just crashed into each other. So.. that wasn't really going so well.
Apparently Ty had been training with the serpent pilot too before Mix got there every day, and he had been improving too. He could use his fire much more rapidly, and was getting better at fighting in his kitsune form too.
All in all, when Mix was finally done with everything for the day, it was long past dark out already, and he was exhausted. Meaning he crashed almost instantly when he got back to his room. Well, his and Saten's room. He'd barely even gotten a chance to talk to her the last few days!! They share a room and he'd only had like three conversations with her!
This was far from ideal to Mix, but what could he do? These were all important things he needed to do, and he couldn't just not do them. So he just kept going along with it all. No matter how much he wanted to spend time with Saten, or even just sleep.
It was Thursday now, and Morgan and Mix were on their after-patrol-patrol. They hadn't seen any Terrors yet that day, which worried them more than seeing some would. It meant they were planning something..
Morgan: Any sign of any yet?
Mix: Nope. Not a single one. Maybe they're just not doing anything today..?
Morgan: It's possible, but I really doubt it. Something's bound to happen at some point.
As she said that, she was proved right as they heard an explosion down on the street. They looked at each other, both knowing that it was time to fight. They ran to the edge of the roof and looked down for the source of the explosion. It was a girl. She was slowly walking down the street, shooting a bow and arrow at cars parked along the road. When the arrow hit the car, it exploded.
Morgan: Not Terrors, but still a problem. Let's go!
Mix: Right behind you!
Morgan jumped off the building, softening her landing with wind magic, while Mix just teleported down and appeared next to her.
Mix: Hey! If you wanted a parking spot you could've just kept looking!
Morgan: I think she's after something more than a parking spot, Mix.
Mix: Yeah but if I think of a funny quip I can't just not say it!
Morgan: *sigh* Alright.
Skull: Please stop talking.
She notched another arrow and fired it at them. They both dodged it, but now there was yet another small crater in the road. Mix and Morgan we're on either side of it.
Morgan: Who are you?
Skull: My master named me Skull.
Mix: Fitting name, I guess.
The blonde in front of them was wearing some armor that looked like it was made of bones, which explained her name. Her bow looked like it was made of bones too..
Morgan: I guess EM got a new friend. Or servant, more accurately.
Skull: Thank you for fighting my Terrors the last few days. The information I've gathered from it has been very useful.
At that moment, Terrors came out of hiding. Lots of them. They formed a circle around Skull and her two challengers.
Mix: How many do you count?
Morgan: At least thirty.
Mix: Great.. You wanna take them, or the blonde?
Morgan: I'll take the Terrors. You're more of a one on one person anyway.
Mix: Sounds good to me.
He reached into a small bag thrown over his shoulder and grabbed a couple of throwing stars.
Mix: Let's see what this new girl's made of.
