I got home from another wonderful day at school. My black eye hasn't gotten any better, but I didn't get beat up today. My parents were arguing with some man in the other room. As soon as they heard the door shut, they instantly said "go to your room Alex! No questions, just go!"

I did as I was told, only to put my stuff down, then I stood at the top of the steps and listened.

"No Sam. You can't take her. You move around way too much. She wants to go into law school in college. Moving around is just going to make things more complicated."

"Forgive me, but she is MY daughter. I want to at least meet her. Let her choose. Please."

"No Sam." They begin arguing again, but I can't hear what all they are saying. I'm his daughter? What the heck was going on? I repeatedly asked myself. It's mostly just a series of shouts from there. Then, another man walks in the door.

"Hey, Sammy! How long is this gonna-" he starts to say before seeing me. I put my finger over my mouth telling him to be quiet and mouth 'please' at him. He nods. "Sammy! Come on. Hurry up!"

Their argument gets clearer.
"No Sam. Again, it's not her choice, it's ours, and we say no. You can't meet her. It's just gonna make things worse in her life. Just stay away from her."

I run back into my room while they continue to argue. I had been dying to know who my parents were. My real parents. This was my chance. I found a piece of paper and wrote: I've always wanted to meet you. Please meet with me: 'phone number' - Alex. and climbed out my window. I had gotten pretty good at climbing out when I just needed some air to clear my head. I ran to their car and put it under their windshield wiper.

Later, I heard them get back to their car, and one of them grab the paper. I looked out the window at them. They got in their car and drove away. I was really hoping Sam would call.
