Cindy Berman and I used to be inseparable. We became neighbors when we were ten, and had been hanging out together for 5 years. Then one day she changed. She totally abandoned me. She started only caring about grades and getting out of Shadyside. Then this year we became counselors at camp together. We never talked though. It was awkward cause she was dating my brother Tommy, which means when I had to talk to him she was there.
Today was Color War, which I had to help with. I was passing out t-shirts, when I heard Cindy call for me. It was weird hearing her call my name. I walked over to the bathroom, where she was covered in moss.
"Yes Cindy?"
"I need you find Alice for me." She said.
"You do it, I'm busy."
"So am I Y/N, god why won't you ever do anything."
"Excuse me. You wanna go there." I said with a stern expression.
"Wow, wow, wow. Ladies, ladies how about you both go." Tommy suggested.
Cindy sighed and walked off, and I followed. We go over to the counselor tent, and walk inside. Cindy screams and I see Alice and her boyfriend on a craft table bumping and grinding to Cherry Bomb. Alice laughs and puts on her pants. Her boyfriend sits on the couch and starts making a joint.
"I can't believe I just saw that, any way you guys need to help." Cindy insisted.
"No. Y/N you want a smoke?" Alice offered.
"Sure why not."
Cindy was shocked she had never seen you smoke before.
"Y/N are you crazy, that could get you in trouble."
"Only if you snitch, and you won't." You say taking a hit from the cigarette.
"What happened to you two?" Cindy questioned.
"Nothing, we aren't the one who changed. You are Cindy, all you want to be is a f*cking goody two shoes. Well me and Alice are just living life."
Cindy got furious she ran off and back to the bathroom. After a while of smoking I left to continue giving out shirts. I saw Tommy coming over and knew I was in trouble.
"Hey Y/N, were you smoking?" He asked.
"No."
"Yeah, because Cindy said-"
"Cindy said, oh she snitched." I interrupted.
I marched over to the bathroom yelling her name.
"CINDY! OH CINDY!" I taunted.
She stood up and I stepped up to her.
"So you told my brother now, wow. You snitch, it was one cigarette. Get over yourself." I said.
"Camp rules are for counselors also." She whispered.
"Camp rules, oh come on Cindy. Don't act like you and my brother don't sneak off to the woods every night and make out."
Her eyes grew big, and then started acting confused.
"I don't know what you are talking about." She whispered again.
Campers and counselors started noticing what was happening. I was getting angrier.
"What happened to you? Remember when me, you, and Alice used to party all the time. Steal my moms beers and your dads cigarettes."
"I never did that." She sighed.
I was done, I was gonna expose her to all the camp. I walk past her then face her again.
"So you didn't toilet paper the mayors house? You didn't knock on doors then run away? You didn't steal packages and put them on other door steps? Really, because I remember you doing all that stuff."
Cindy was done, she pushed me onto the ground. I hit the wood, which caused my lip to bleed. I got up and pushed her, which caused her to fall and rip her polo.
"MY POLO!" She yelled.
"Oh no, did I rip your polo? Your perfect polo." I teased.
She got up and hit me. I touched my face and smiled. I then hit her back and ran outside. She followed, and so did everyone else. I stood at the front of the dock.
"What are you gonna do?"
She walked up and punched me. I then started to pull her hair and she did the same. I was able to bring her to the end of the dock and throw her in. She then pulled me in, by grabbing my ankle. Kurt and Tommy run over and pull us out. Holding us back from each other.
"What the h*ll Y/N, Cindy. Why are you doing this?" Kurt questioned.
"She's psycho." Cindy said.
That hurt me a little, my ex best friend calling me psycho. I wiggled out of Kurts arms.
"All I ever wanted was to be friends with you again. When I tried you ignored me, so when I made new friends. You ruined it for me. You always do this. You are selfish, all you think about is yourself. Well I hope your happy cause you have my brother, my friends, and my trust. All of my memories with you are forgotten, I never want to see you again." I cried.
"Y/N...I didn't know."
"NO! I have Alice and her boyfriend that's all I need. Goodbye C. Berman." I yelled.
Alice runs up to me and holds on to my arm. I limp away as Cindy goes over to Tommy. I hear campers talking about us, and I ignore it. All I want to do is cry, knowing I lost my best friend forever.
