Daniella understood the nature of her relationship with Elijah. He had met when she was pretty young, helped her, and they had a deal.It was then she had realized the nature of their relationship. It was all business, a give and take kind of thing, but it was under the umbrella of pretended care, from his end at least. That fact never really bothered her. It was better than having him threat her life or that of her mother.
Daniella knew better than to believe that he actually cared. So, she was utterly confused at the open box on her bed with the letter and invitation for the ball.
She couldn't say she had much experience with men, actually she didn't have much experience with people in general.
However, she couldn't help but find the gesture slightly bewildering, out of character, and even unsettling.
She hadn't seen him in years and they didn't interact much at the time. However, she still felt like the dress he gifted her was slightly overboard.
Maybe he's trying to win my affection?
She assumed in her mind, giving a better look at the dress. It was beautiful and she realized her skin never touched something so pretty.
Her mother had told her that that she found the box on their doorstep and she put it in her room.
In spite of the beautiful dress and the fancy invitation, Daniella couldn't stop certain dark thoughts from invading her mind.
The first thought was her mother. It always took her by surprise how her mother seemed so passive towards her. She didn't even bother to ask her about the gift nor the invitation.
The second thought was way more worrying for her. Daniella knew that her mother must consume vervain as soon as possible.
It didn't really escape her mind the fact that two vampires found their way into her bedroom late at night. Therefore, the only logical explanation was that Suzan had been compelled.
There were too many vampires lurking around Mystic Falls for her to leave Suzan so vulnerable to their mind control.
The third, and perhaps the most terrifying thought was the ball. As gorgeous as the dress was, and as much as she was fascinated with the idea of wearing it and attending such an event, Daniella was beyond scared.
She knew going to the ball wasn't a social affair. Elijah, despite his efforts, didn't ask her to go for her own benefit. He was clear about his suspicions towards his mother.
The original witch who started the whole vampire debacle. Daniella wondered what she could do against a woman so powerful. There was also the fact that Valkov hadn't made his presence known since she woke up.
She had mixed feelings about the whole thing. On one hand, she could pretend he wasn't even there and maybe proceed with her normal life.
On the other hand, she knew that his presence was the only way to protect herself against the many dangers facing her.
Elijah and his siblings
Esther
Vampires
HybridsShe counted the list of people, or rather creatures, that could attack and successfully kill her before she could even blink.
She wondered what else could be out there. "I won't even be surprised to find the boogyman lurking in my closet". She mumbled under her breath and went foe the shower.
She only had a couple of hours before it's time to head to the ball. Her eyes drifted to the envelope on her bed; the letter Elijah had written for her.
