Bonnie and Elijah were together at the park. It was a day after the whole Elena fiasco, and Bonnie called him for an afternoon stroll and a cup of coffee later. They were both walking side by side, basking in the afternoon's sun. It was quiet between them, but it was the silence they both felt comfortable in.

"We sorted Elena's situation". Elijah said in a matter-of-fact tone. Bonnie only hummed her agreement and so he continued, "My brother is no longer a danger to you or your town. Rebekah and he had found a new place that they'd like to make into their home"

Bonnie took in a breath and asked, "Do you wish to follow them?"

"Perhaps I have the desire to be with my family, it's what I have wanted from the beginning, but it doesn't have to be at this very moment" Elijah stopped and pinned Bonnie with a look, "Do you remember what I told you, Bonnie?"

She tilted her head in confusion. Bonnie wished he was talking about his request back in the boarding house while they were both watching the flames of the fireplace. She hoped it wasn't too much of her wishful thinking.

"Don't be coy Bonnie Bennett, it's not very becoming of you" Elijah said with a teasing smile, "I have grown an interest in you, and I would like to formally court you"

Bonnie bit back a laugh, "seriously, Elijah? Court me?" She couldn't help the giggles that left her. She couldn't remember feeling so girly, "You're so old" she said teasingly with a shake of her head.

Elijah feigned annoyance, which made Bonnie laugh even more. "So, you're asking me out?"

Elijah raised an eyebrow, "It sounds less serious for how I would like it to be, but if that's how you'd like to call it"

He let his words hang in the air for a second longer. He wanted Bonnie to realize that he was not going a juvenile trial. If he was doing this, then he would rather she was all in.

Bonnie's mode turned more somber, "You're aware that I am a witch?" When he nodded and giving her a look that clearly implied that her question was stupid. "You're aware that I don't like people dying left and right, I have..."

"You had..." Elijah corrected, "You had a prejudice against vampires, perhaps rightfully so. But we're both one and the same in more things than one. We would both do anything to make sure the people we care about come to no harm"

Bonnie bit her lower lip. She was hesitant, worried, but intrigued all the same. The budding feelings she's been having for Elijah didn't worry her at first. She thought they would never be reciprocated, or that it was just a crush that was bound to go away. She wasn't sure when that notion had changed. She didn't know when the simple crush felt like there was more into it. No, she wasn't in love. But she could see herself perhaps going there at some point.

The idea terrified her.

She liked her magic; it has become an essential part of her being. She wondered if being with Elijah would come with the obligation of losing that, of becoming a vampire. Living of blood wasn't something she really fancied.

"I can hear the wheels turning in your head" Elijah commented seemingly nonchalant, but he could form an idea of where her mind had drifted.

"I'm thinking about what being with you entitles" Bonnie replied honestly.

"As long as you're not opposed to the idea of being with me, we can explore the rest of it along the way"

Bonnie thought over his words. She was jumping very far ahead, she could see how it would go. She wouldn't be any less serious about them, but she wouldn't pressure herself with unnecessary thoughts. She had few years before she'd look older than his, many years. In worst case scenario, Bonnie thought, she could use spells to slow her aging. She had known witches to do that.
