Daniella sat on that new bed in that new room, which looked nothing like her own. The lush decoration and the softness of the bed were a constant reminder of her new situation.

It had been a couple of days since Elijah found her in her house crumbled on the floor. He had stayed with her all night, consoling her, which she hadn't expected from the original.

She felt the vibration of her phone next to her as Damon's name flashed on it. She looked at the phone with a sad look, then turned away to stare at the painting hung on the wall opposite of young girl standing in a huge field.

Damon hadn't stopped calling her. He hadn't stopped blowing her phone with his calls and texts demanding to know where she is. They started with insistent apologies and degraded to strong demands to know her whereabouts.

She heard a soft knock on her door, and she knew it was Elijah. After she had mumbled a soft "Come in" he entered and his eyes fell on her phone.

"He's calling again?" Elijah asked in a bored tone.

"He hadn't really stopped" She said in a soft whisper, but her eyes didn't leave the painting.

He took a seat on the bed next to her, "You seem to be fascinated with that painting". His eyes drifted to it and gave it a contemplating look.

She turned to him, "I touches my heart somehow". The vibration of the phone stopped and took it and turned it off.

"How are you feeling today?"

"Better" she gave a small smile, "All thanks to you".

It was true, Elijah made sure to give her his blood twice a day. The sickness and the theowing up had decreased a great deal. Her color was coming back and ahe was beginning to look healthier.

"It's nothing". At his reply, she nodded and gave him a gracious smile.

She was grateful for all he had done for her. She still remembered him that night he found her.

Flashback

After she had spent a good hour crying over his suit, he made her a cup of tea. "Chamomile is your favorite." He commented while pouring the hot water in the cup.

She smiled, "it's sweet and it calms me"

He handle her the cup and took a seat on the kitchen table, "Come with me, Daniella"

She looked with red eyes puffy eyes, "What?"

"I'm leaving tonight, come with me. There's nothing keeping you here". He said in his usual business tone, but still tainted with a little bit of sympathy for her.

"I promise Klaus I would help him".
In all honesty, she didn't want to leave, not entirely. She felt like leaving would be the final straw that would end everything between her and Damon, and she didn't feel ready for that yet.

"You are in no shape to help him now. Come with me, we'd come back in time to return him to his body" Elijah pushed. He knew she was giving excuses to not leave. However, he felt responsible for her and he knew it was for the best that she leaves this town.

"There's school, finals are at the door" She said with a shake of her head, "and my what if my mom came back? I can't just up and leave".

"You can come for the finals, I'll compel the entire school of I had too. And your mom won't he coming back, if she does we can come back" Elijah argued back.

"Elijah, I don't know"

She ended up agreeing. They arrived at New York and the first couple of hours were the hardest. She didn't have money and she wasn't sure what to do with herself.
