The worst part of being human is the expectations we build. When we care, like really care, we expect the person we care about to fulfill and maybe even outdo the expectations we enforced upon them.

That was the case with Daniella.

In a way she had faith in Damon albeit everything. She expected a lot from him, especially after their meeting in the woods.

Feeling that Damon was not taking her side was devastating.

"May I inquire what is all the hassle about?" Elijah said in his stoic and very polite attitude. One that was unlike his way with Bonnie only some minutes ago, Daniella noted to herself.

They all stood in silence, unsure of what they should say for what seemed like forever. Stefan was the one who jumped in, "Does killing an Original mean ending their entire bloodline?"

"Ah, I see you are yet to return the stake to my brother" Elijah stated nonchalantly.

"Just please answer the question" Elena sounded almost pleading.

"Indeed. We are the first vampires, so by killing one of us you kill all the others we turned and those they turned and so on and on" Elijah looked at their faces, "How did you come to such an information."

All heads turned to Daniella, whose eyes only followed Damon.

Elijah didn't need any further explanation, it was easy to know that Daniella was the one who let them into this let detail.

"We have a bigger problem though".  Daniella urged, her eyes finally leaving Damon and falling on Elijah. They shared a look of understanding that they would need to talk.

Daniella went to school half asleep. She couldn't sleep a wink all night. She had told Elijah about Alaric and how the Gilbert ring created a sort of alter ego personality that held a grudge against all vampires. They both agreed that they would have to find a way to fix the problem.

However, what really kept her awake was Damon. She expected he would come and talk to her, apologize, or make some stupid explanation for his behavior.

But Damon never showed up.

The window remained open all night, and the door stayed unlocked. She'd waited even if she wouldn't admit it to herself, but she had been waiting.

"You've been zoned out all day, what's up with that?" Lisa asked joining her on the lunch table. She was worried, but sounded aggravated at her friend's behavior.

Jeremy followed suit, sitting next to Lisa and putting his tray on the table with a soft thud.

Daniella managed a weak smile, "I didn't sleep well last night"

"Why? What happened?" Lisa urged her to talk, but Daniella wasn't sure what to she should say.

She shrugged easily and took a bite of her apply, "I had a lot of studying to do, so much homework to finish"

"Nerd" Lisa teased with a grin and Daniella laughed along. Jeremy shared a look with her, and he clearly didn't believe her.

The school day ended in a blur and Daniella was walking to her car with Lisa, who seemed a bit nervous.

"Okay, spit it". Daniella ordered exasperated. She could notice the change in behavior right after lunch, especially when they were alone. She suspected that it had something to do with Jeremy.
