Damon could smell him all over her. His scent was embedded deep under her skin, streaming through her veins. Daniella was about to explain to him what happened, but he wouldn't have it.
"Did you give him your blood?" He sneered his question with accusing eyes.
Sharing blood was not something he could tolerate. Damon was tired of sharing. He had shared Katherine, shared Elena, but he Daniella was a red line. He had to draw the line somewhere, and she was it.
It was clear to him how Elijah was looking at her. He had noticed it from the night of that cursed ball.
Daniella shook her head, "Damon calm down! I didn't give him my blood. Elijah gave me his blood because I needed it"
She didn't know what to think of his reaction. He was making a big deal out of this, but he didn't even know what happened.
"The spells took a toll on my body, and I needed his blood" She explained softly, without explaining how the power was actually killing her.
Damon furrowed his eyebrows, half worried yet half angry that she didn't take his blood. "Why didn't you take mine?"
She shook her head, "the idea didn't even cross my mind. Only when Elijah suggested it did I consider it. We weren't even sure it would work"
"If you need blood, just tell me". Daniella only nodded her head, and he wrapped his arm around her. Resting his chin on top of her head, and after a moment of silence he asked, "Are you sure that there's nothing else?"
He couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong with her. She didn't feel like herself for sometime now. When he heard her heartbeat quicken ever so slightly as she said, "there's nothing". He knew she was lying.
They laid in each other's arms, he was just content to stay like that. He remebered when she was surprised that he was into cuddling. But he wasn't. It was only with her.
"How are you handling though?" She asked in a whisper. She had been worried about him; she knew he was going through a lot even if he didn't admit it.
Damon scoffed, "Of course, I'm fine. It's nothing that I'm not used to"
She pulled away and looked him in the eyes, "Damon, you just lost your best friend. So, don't so here and tell me you're cool with it."
Damon clenched his jaws, "Nothing that I'm not used to. You know I killed him twice already". She raised an eyebrow at that, and Damon started telling her about his history with Alaric and how they first met.
They spent hours with Damon talking about Alaric and the things they've been through together. Daniella let him talk, she laughed with him. "I can't believe that I will have to kill him"
Daniella felt a tear rolling down her cheek. It was for his sake, for Alaric, for Jeremy, and even for Elena.
Damon chuckled a little, wiping her tears, "why are you crying? You didn't even know him"
She shook her head a little, "I think I'm crying because I know you can't".
His phone rang, before he could say anything. Damon was grateful for the interruption, for he didn't know how to reply to that. He only gave her a soft smile, then answered the phone, "Stefan"
Daniella watched as his face morphed into a sneer. "our life is a one big proverbial coming toss" He said then hung up.
Daniella let out a sigh, "What happened now?"
"Jeremy called Stefan, Elena is in the hospital" He said with a shake of his head.
"Are we meeting Stefan there?" She asked, and Damon was slightly taken a back by her use of "we", but didn't comment on it.
