Damon was leading the way into somewhere far away from school. Daniella was following him but after five minutes of walking, she stopped and crossed her arms over her chest.

"I'm not taking another step Damon. Let's just talk here"

Damon turned to her and she was surprised to see the playfulness gone from his features. Damon was serious like she had never seen him.

"Daniella" he said in that way which clearly stated he didn't want to argue with her. One look at his eyes, and she relented. His blue eyes were always the most expressive and they always got to her.

She huffed and they continued walking in silence for some time more until they reached the woods.

Hadn't she knew Damon, she'd be scared for her life. Something about following him to the woods to talk about what happened reminded her of Twilight.

Damon came to a sudden stop then turned to her.  He was tight-lipped, which contradicted the wanly look on his eyes.

Despite the seriousness of the situation, Daniella couldn't help but compare him to Edward Cullen once more.

They stood silently and Daniella began to fidget on her feet. "So?" She asked awkwardly with her eyes casted down.

"We kissed" Damon deadpanned and Daniella raised her eyes to look at him, "And apparently you didn't want to talk about it"

"I say we forget about it and move on" That wasn't particularly what she wanted, but Damon was as unattainable as a cup of water in the Sahara desert. That much she knew!

She never had a boyfriend before; she never really had the chance to do much with everything that went on in her life.

For his part Damon refused to say anything, his usual impulsive side decided to take a break to allow her to explain herself.

When the silence was prolonged she nibbled on her lip and continued, "We're great friends and I don't want to ruin that". Because she would never say that she was afraid of getting hurt, that she knew he would never be hers.

Damon was not the boyfriend material and she wasn't one to go cor experimenting and trying. Her heart was breakable and her heart was fragile; she could not take a chance.

He didn't know what he wanted. He wasn't sure if his feelings for Elena were gone, but his feelings for Daniella were real. So, he wondered for how long he should remain pinning over his brother's girl. It was a fucked up scenario that has been repeating itself for a century.

"Why would you think it would ruin our friendship?"

His question didn't take her by surprise, but she was still slightly surprised. The way he seemed serious about the whole thing was unsettling. She half expected him to laugh it off, or maybe mock her.

It was a minute of silence with both of them staring at each other. Finally, Daniella let out a sigh, "If it's some sort of a friend's with benefits thing you want then I'm not into that." She left out the part where she was worried of getting attached.

"Whoever said that I want that?" He said with confused eyes and a tilted head.

"Then what do you want?"

It was the question that he had been asking himself for a very long time. In fact, he has been asking this question since the minute he saw her. However, he always failed to have an answer.

"I don't know"

His frustration was clear in his voice, very clear that she heard it and saw it in his eyes.  She smiled at him sadly, "then we should forget about it." She shook her head dismissively, "Look I have to go back to school, lunch will be ending soon."
