A Cemetery Somewhere
March 23, 1971
She closed the file and looked up. A black crow stood out stark against the grey, white sky. Knowing all that she knew gave her no comfort, but she hoped at least for the soul beside her it did. She stood up and dusted off the leaves that stuck to her.
"I know this isn't enough. I'll be back with the rest. For now though..." She laid a hand on top of the stone. "It's time for phase one."
Walking out of the cemetery, she stopped by a flower cart on the sidewalk. Smelling a few varieties, she pointed at one and handed the clerk her money.
"Keep the change." She said, as the clerk handed her a single red rose.
Twirling the rose in her hand, she walked down the sidewalk and headed into town.
