Bridgett

There were many who showed up ready to help. When Lanz had called in some more of his contacts from the old days, they were all thrilled to hear from him that they came right over to lend a hand. Bridgett thought there was more catching up than actual working, but still the work was getting done. Paths were being made, structures were gaining a foundation, and paint was even being underway in some areas.

"Here you go." Bridgett handed a few that were hammering away, a glass of tang.

"Thanks Bri." One of them said.

It was the first time she ever had a nickname. Well, one that wasn't demeaning. She smiled to herself and stood, looking around.

"What do you think so far?" Lanz came up beside her. He was covered in sweat and dirt, but the sight was appealing. Folding his arms, he looked out at all the progress. She loved the idea since the beginning and now, things were moving along, no longer an idea, but a reality. It should be a great moment for her, but the alarm in the back of her thoughts reared its head. This time it took the form of the voices- the henchmen. 'You'll mess this up for him. All this work he's putting in. You'll mess this up. You always do.'

"Bri?" Lanz called, interrupting her lashing from a ghost.

"Huh, oh yeah! It's really coming together! They are all working so hard. We should do something for them tonight. A dinner?"

"They would love that. Free food? They won't turn that down."

"Free food and good company." She added.
