Angela & Stavo

Angela searched the bullpen aimlessly. It was bustling with officers and detainees that she had to maneuver her way around. She looked behind her. The FBI agents were in the back room. One of them eyed her, closing the door to the conference room. It sent a fresh surge of nerves fluttering through her. Looking around, she couldn't see him anywhere.

Stavo looked up from his desk and noticed Angela. He was getting good at spotting her, whenever she passed by and she was good at avoiding him.

Today, though, she seemed even more different. He caught the attempt to hide the fret and wondered what she was looking for? She walked closer and Stavo stood up, meeting up with her. "Everything alright?"

Coiling at the sight of him, She gave a weak smile and touched the back of her hair. She looked around subtly, to check if anyone was watching them. "I was just leaving."

"Angie, come on. Whatever put you off the other day, we can at least talk about it, instead of this whole awkward dance."

"Have you seen Mahone? I was looking for him."

"I guess you haven't heard." Now Stavo was the one looking around, checking if anyone was watching. "Cap suspended him, but anything you got for him, I can take a look at." He leaned in closer and spoke low. "We're still partners, if you catch my meaning."

Bunching her lips together in frustration, she stood agitated, glaring at him. It would have to be him then.

"Here is a copy of the autopsy report for Ms. Rossini. The Feds already have theirs." She said, whispering.

Handing the file to Stavo, she didn't let go when he reached for it. She leaned in close. "There is also a crossword puzzle for Mahone." Letting go of the file, she tapped a finger on the newspaper folded on top. "He'll want to take a look at that." She stared directly into his eyes for emphasis.

Stavo looked down at the file and nodded. "Thanks for this. The Feds won't let us anywhere near this case."

"I just hope I made the right choice." She gave him one last look, before taking off.

Stavo watched her leave, then looked around for any prying eyes. Del La Rosa got up from his desk and was heading out, everyone else was too busy to notice him. He made his way back to his desk and glanced at the newspaper. The crossword puzzle on it was already filled in. He would give that to Mahone later and set it aside for now.
