Steve
Steve Bunnell stood over Claire's desk, his hands on his hips, staring down at a piled up mess. He had combed through every square inch and found nothing relating or causing her death.
Her last article had been on the Rossini scandal, and the M.E. had said that she had been dead hours before it was released. There's no coincidence she happened to die in the same manner as the other Rose Murder victims. Her death was related somehow. He just had to prove it. The police had their investigation, but he would have his.
Turning to everyone else on the floor, he projected his voice. "I will be acting Editor in Chief for the time being. We've been hit hard today, but we're going to get up and strike back even harder. As of right now, no other story is more important than these Rose Murders. I want to know who this person is, why they're doing it. I want to know what school they went to, what they had for breakfast today. Where do they get their dry cleaning? Got it? Let's go, people!" He clapped his hands several times and everyone hustled back and forth, reaching for phones, grabbing their coats.
He turned to face Sinclair's office. The lights were off, but the blinds were left open. A picture of his wife and kids on his desk. Sinclair was supposed to leave early today to make Kevin's little league game. His hat and jersey were resting on the back of the chair. His wife embroidered the hat herself to read: Proud Dad.
