I closed my eyes as I savored the gentle wind that kept on hitting my face. The cold it sends into my spine doesn't affect me at all as the soft lullaby it makes sends comfort into my soul.

I gather my hair on one side as it keeps dancing to the rhythm of waves that keep on chasing me. A low chuckle escapes from my lips when the white sand tickles my bare feet.

The universe must be on my side at this moment, for it sent the most glowing stars and glued them to the cloudless portion of the night sky. The moon was cut in half at the horizon as the dark water of the sea magnificently reflected the light shining from it.

It was a magical night maybe, because he was right here by my side.

"You were the happiest every time you were at the ocean," he said, smiling as he followed my every move.

I halted playing with the water and turned in his direction. I tucked the strand of my hair that slightly covered my face, stopping me from seeing him clearly.

"I'm always the happiest every time I'm with you," I answered, making him grin widely.

He immediately snaked his arms around my waist when I sat beside him. I sigh contentedly when I felt his gentle kiss on my head. "You know, I always think of you when I look at the ocean."

My forehead creased in confusion, "Why?"

"Because you're like a wave," he replied shortly, still with a smile on his lips.

"Maybe you were right," I whispered to the void and laughed bitterly as I remembered our memories.

I sighed and crossed my arms as I look at the surroundings.

It was still magical, but it seems dull to me now. The waves stopped chasing. The sand kept stabbing my feet. The stars lost their spark. The sky is blank. The moon was hiding. The sad hum of the wind was heard, and the only constant is the cold breeze that now freezes my soul.

The thought of you being here with me now is gone.

"You have been right all along," I chuckled, wiping my tears.

I was like a wave in that one blissful summer- no matter how far I've reached, I always find myself coming back to the shore of your warmth...even after you sent me away.
