Coffee Mates: Nana Meets Nana

Entering the familiar building, and the same room but with a different vibe and mood. Jaemin sat down exhausted on one of the bean bags as he wander his eyes in the dark and quite room where use to be so bright and harmonious. Used to be filled with joyous laughter as well as happiness.

"Hoy Jaemin pang ilang kape mo nayan ah..."

"Hala siya?! Hoy Jaena, pangatlo ko palang toh noh? Ikaw nga nakakaapat na jan..." he protested

"Uy hindi ah!" Jaena denied.

"Eh bat kanina pa nakalabas yung black coffee powder dun..."

"At least yun... Sige na nga..."

But know it is all in his memory.

"Stop bothering me will you?! We're just roommates. Nothing more nothing less."

Those words kept ringing on his head, making him feel more guilty towards his actions.

"Alam ko namang roommates lang tayo eh, pero masama bang maging concern? Oh sige sabihin natin na nagustuhan nga kita, na nafall ako sayo.... But it doesn't mean ipipilit ko yun sayo... It might be obvious but believe me... I'm doing my best to forget since I know you'll never see me the way I see you.... Kaya pwede ba, wag mo sana mamisunderstand yung pagiging concern ko sayo. "

" Sana di ba, hindi mo nalang kinalimutan... " he said and heaved out a deep sigh as his tears were slowly falling down.

Flashback....

Starting her independent life, Min Jae-na decided to move in the city, since it would be a bit hustle for her to travel from her school to their house and vice-versa.

Along with it, she had to find a place to stay.

And that's where they met...

The building owner accidentally gave a wrong unit number to Jaena, and giving her the same unit as where Jaemin was.

After a week,  the owner found out and sincerely apologized to both Jaena and Jaemin, and ask Jaena if she want to be move to another unit but surprisingly,

"I think we can just share in this unit, aside  sa tama lang naman po yung laki ng unit, mas makatipid din po kaming parehas sa pagbabayad.... If okay lang sayo Jaena..." He suggested and ask for Jaena's opinion.

"Hmm.. Okay lang naman sa akin, dalawa naman po yung loaf beds and we both have enough spaces para sa mga gamit namin... So it's fine." Jaena replied making Jaemin smiled towards her.

And from then on, the two of them gone really close. They even help each other with their own school works even if they are attending different schools.

They split doing chores, just except laundry...

"So ang nickname mo din si Nana? Wow ang galing naman noh..." Jaemin beamed as he asks about Jaena's nickname.

"Oo... Teka, pansin ko ah... Ang tapang nung kapeng inorder mo ah..." Jaena commented.

"Eh kamusta pa yang sayo, purong puro... Itim na itim... " Jaemin remarked.

"Wahhh.... I think you should consider ourselves coffee mates...." Jaena suggested and let a chuckle.

"ang witty noh! Sige call" Jaemin agreed.

Everything was doing fine, but just like everything that exists.... Natatapos din ang lahat.

"Stop bothering me will you?! We're just roommates. Nothing more nothing less."he half yelled.

" I'm just asking, if you're free. Di mo kailangan sumigaw....  By the way I 'll be going... " Jaena replied before walking towards the door.

" Saan ka pupunta?! You' ll meet him? "

"... Jan lang... "

" it's not the right answer, tell me..." he said, and to his surprise Jaena fall down on her knee... and started sobbing as her head was hanging low.

"Alam ko namang roommates lang tayo eh, pero masama bang maging concern? Oh sige sabihin natin na nagustuhan nga kita, na nafall ako sayo.... But it doesn't mean ipipilit ko yun sayo... It might be obvious but believe me... I'm doing my best to forget since I know you'll never see me the way I see you.... Kaya pwede ba, wag mo sana mamisunderstand yung pagiging concern ko sayo. " she said between her sobs.

" Uy Jaena... Ano bang sinasabi mo... Jae— JAENA! " he called her nervously when  Jaena suddenly stops crying and felt a weight leaning on his knees.

Upon realizing that Jaena had passed out, he immediately laid her in a more comfortable position before calling for help.

"Hyung, alam namin na hindi eto yung perfect timing pero... Nung araw na nagbreak kayo ni Rani, at saka the next day na niresbakan namin yung bago niya.... It wasn't really Jaena's fault... In fact, sya pa nga umawat sa amin... Kaya wag kang magagalit sa kanya... Please hyung... " Jisung pleaded.

" Oo nga bro, she just did it... Kase nasasaktan siya para sayo... " Jeno agreed.

The following day...

Jaemin was lazily sitting on the couch, scrolling through his phone when he suddenly heard a knock from his door....

And to his surprise, it was Jaena's mom

" Ay kayo po pala.... Pasok po kayo auntie..." He greeted.

"Naku salamat... Pero di din naman ako magtatagal eh... Pwede ba akong humingi ng pabor......"

' sadyang mahina na talaga ang puso ng pasente and drinking anything with caffeine was really restricted for her aside sa stress. And sad to say, but the patient didn't make it'

" Sabi ko sayo eh, mas marami kang nainom na kape kesa sa akin eh..." He mumbled as he place one of the mug he is holding near a framed image of Jaena...

"Yan sayo yan... Akin toh... Coffee mates. " he said once again while smiling bitterly towards his roommate's photo with his tears slowly falling down.
