TWENTY-EIGHT

Under the heat of the ending summer, Dustin stood infront of me with a wide smile on his face. But what caught my attention is the big luggage that he is carrying.

He noticed how confuse I am. And the next words that came out from his mouth is the words I couln't almost hear.

"Surprise! I decided to stay here with you!"

Still shocked that he is here, I let him enter our house. When we entered, tita's worried face made me confirm everything.

Binalik ko ang tingin ko ngayon kay Dustin na masayang nakaupo sa sofa sa living room. Nilibot niya ang tingin sa bahay namin ngayon. Nilapitan ko si tita na mukhang nag-aalala sa akin

"I'm sorry I just recieved your dad's call earlier. He said Dustin want to transfer and stay here with you"she said now

Binalik ko ang tingin kay Dustin ngayon. He looks so excited and happy. I sighed. What am I thinking? He's here for me so I should be happy right?

Nakangiti ko siyang nilapitan ngayon. Tumabi ako ng upo sa kaniya kaya umusog siya bago ako masayang hinarap. I don't know where the bad feeling earlier came from, now that I'm facing him and  he looks so happy I felt guilty for thinking badly that he came here.

"Wow, this place is really beautiful. You must be also drawn to the scenery here"mangha niyang ani

Tumango ako sa kaniya at hindi ko alam kung bakit hindi ko kayang ngumiti sa kaniya ng bukal sa loob ko. And Dustin, as my bestfriend, immediately noticed the way I act.

"I'm sorry. Are you not comfortable? I just really want to stay with you and experience the things that made you change here"sa mahinang boses niyang sabi

Ngumiti ako agad at umiling. I felt guilty. He only want to stay with me as my bestfriend and yet here I am being a bad person again. 

Kagaya ng sinabi ni tita sa akin ay nagenroll nga siya sa skwelahan kung saan kami nag-enroll. And I wasn't even a bit shock when he showed up infront of our class on the first day of school. Yes. Our class. Magkaklase na naman kami ni Charmaine and A.

"May kaklase kayo ngayon mula sa syudad. Can you introduce yourself?" ani nang guro ngayon sa harapan katabi si Dustin

Sa akin siya nakatingin ngayon at may ngiti sa mga labi niya. Matagal niya pa akong tinignan bago siya bumati sa lahat at nagpakilala.

"I'm Dustin Solarez. I came from the city but I hope I get along with you all"

Nag-usap usapan naman ang mga kaklase namin ngayon. Pinag-uusapan nila ngayon ang hitsura ni Dustin na halatang taga-syudad at anak mayaman. Dustin is a meztiso kaya ganon nalang ka nagstastand-out ang itsura niya dito.

"Xianna? Siya yung kasama mo lagi sa mga lakad mo sa syudad diba?"mahinang bulong ni Charmaine ngayon sa tabi ko

I awkwardly smiled at her and nodded. I don't know if it was my imagination or not but I saw hostility in her face but immediately faded when she saw that I was looking at her.

Sa unang araw palang ni Dustin dito ay madali siyang humalo at nakihalubilo sa mga kaklase ko. Mangha ko siyang tinignan ngayon habang nakikipag-usap sa mga kaklase ko habang break.

Lumapit siya sa banda ko at tumigil sa harap ko. Tiningala ko siya ngayon dahil nakaupo pa ako.

"Xia, let's have lunch together later"yaya niya

Napalingon naman agad ako sa paligid pagkatapos niyang sabihin 'yon. Nakita kong pinagtitinginan kami ngayon. At alam ko ang ibig sabihin ng mga ekspresiyon na 'yon.
