chapter 34

 waking up this morning felt starnge. it was like i was floating. like i was the only person in the world.

its a strange feeling.

i woke up in little space with a dull ache in my butt and alone which straight away made me whine. 

i roll over onto my back amd sit up whimper at the pain in my butt.i look around alec's room seeing his jacket missing and obviously him.

i push back the covers grabbing bunny and sliding off the bed i think about going to look for him until i realise im in just a shirt.

i walk over to the wardrobe and grab a pair of his black joggers and a hoodie and slip them on before grabbing bunny again and walking out the room,

sucking on the sleve of his hoodie looking around for him i find everyone in the main room.

i rub my eyes walking towards them.i dont say anything aproaching them instead i just climb onto alecs lap whimpering slightly making everyone look at me.

"gracie you okay?" clary asks looking at me frowning. since im in joggers and a hoodie and there all black. not something people usally see me wearing.

"hurts" i mutter amking alec chuckle and pull me closer to him.

"its gonna." he says a smirk on his face as everyone looks at us confused until they notice the way im sitting not putting much pressure on my butt.

clary smiles and shakes her head whereas izzy and jace chuckle making me whine and hide my face in alec's arm.

he laughs at this and shifts me to sit on his knee instead of his lap so i can listen. he pulls the sleave of his hoodie out my moth as i look around confused.

"The Cup is not safe here. We have to give it back to the Clave."alec says looking at clary as she holds it in her hand.

i stare at it with wide eyes. i cant believe after everyhting thats happened we've actualluy found it.

"Give it back to the Clave? No. Not after everything we went through to get it." calry says looking at him harshly.

i lean back against alec's chest making him grunt and shift me to sit comftabley.

"My brother is right. The Cup is extremely important."izzy says looking at clary seriosuly before she looks at alec.

"Are you agreeing with me?"alec asks glancing at izzy smirking,

"I'm full of surprises." izzy says smirking right back at him.

"This Cup is the one chance I have at getting our mom back." clary says she looks at me at the mention of mom but i just bring alec's hoodie sleave up and start sucking on it again.

"I agree with Clary. We can't give the Cup to the Clave, not now. We need it." jace says passing clary a card.

i watch on amazement as she shoves the cup slowly threw the card a purple light appeating as she does.

"wow" i mutter looking at it.

"It's our only bargaining chip."she says turning back and looking at eveyrone."Look, I know how powerful this Cup is. It has the power to create new Shadowhunters, control demons and even kill a mundane if they drank from it."she says looking at alec. right now hes the only one theyre trying to convice to keep the cup here."But I promise you, I will not let that monster get his hands on it." clary says refuring to our dad.

i dont like him and ive never even met him.

" There you go. You have her word."jace says looking at alec.

alec sighs dramatically. and then stands up holding me on his hip. i cling on tightly as he shifts me to sit right before he sighs once gain and rolls his eyes.

"Follow me. " he says before he starts walking away.

clary follows behind us holding the card with the cup on it.

"Alec, I realize I couldn't have done any of this without your help. " she says as we reach the training room which has that sercret compartment in the floor." i wanna thank you"clary says looking at him holding me protectively.

alec lifts me off his hip and sits me on the floor making me look at him pouting.

"Don't misread this as friendship." he says pulling out his steele gliding it over the square making the box appear."Since you've arrived, our whole world's been turned upside down." alec says reahcing for the card taking it plaicng it in teh box before he closes it and stands up.

he looks at clary before he looks at me. i reahc one hand out for him the other still in my mouth with the sleave.

he shakes his head smiling at me befre he picks me up and swing me onto his hip.making me giggle. clary watchs the way he handles me before alec walks straight past her into the main room again and up to one of the monitors.

a red circle appears outside of the institute before the screen strats beeping making alec frown.

"what the-" he asks looking at it confused. jace and izzy come and stand on either side of us looking at it too as the beeping increases.

"theres something outside the periminter" jace says looking at it.

"i told-" akec goes to say but jace cuts him off.

"dont say it" he says annoyed looking at the screen.

"whats happening?"clary asks coming over quickly hearing teh beeping.

"bad guy" i mutter seeing the circle moving towards the buidling.

"looks like someone is trying to break in." izzy says stepping infront of us looking at the monitor.

"could be the circle" jace says going to walk away.

"told you so" alec says making him roll his eyes.

"too soon."jace says before he walks off izzy following him,

"stay with your sister"alec says quickly kissing me on the forehead before he walks off after them qucikly leaving me stood next to clary confused.

 she walks over to the monitor looking at it confused seeing teh red circle approaching the buliding.

without saying anything she quickly takes off running after them leaving me stood here confused.

"i look around wwhimpering seeing no one i know so i just climb into the nearest chair and sit down. looking at the screen sucking on the sleave of the hoodie.
