Dawsey: Starting a Family Part 2

Chapter 193

Matt's POV: Once we finished at the park with Louie and our friends, I smiled because me and Gabby were now on our way home. I decided to take the afternoon with the family and was going to work tomorrow morning instead. OFI agreed with that. I said I wanted to take time with my son and wife as much as possible during the pandemic and they knew how important family is at the start of the pandemic. Honestly, the CFD has been so understanding right now that I am not sure if I ever want to quit. Looking at me, Gabby smiled at me. "You're thinking about stuff." I nodded and laughed when she said that. "I am just so grateful to how understanding the CFD and Chief have been when it comes to me only working a few hours a day to earn a paycheck."

Gabby rubbed my arm and smiled. "Be honest Matt, you may only do a few hours but...you get a lot done in those hours. You go through a case pretty quickly." I nodded. "Yeah for now. It's because all of the cases are fires that I personally worked on. I guess I am just starting to get nervous about when they are fires that I am not familiar with. How good am I going to be at those?" Gabby then looked at me before kissing my arm. "You are going to be a natural because you are already going to know what you need to look for. These cases are good training. It's why I am helping...I want to remember what it's like if I ever want to go back to OFI either during or after my pregnancy. Remember, we both agreed that I should try to get a job eventually."

I sighed when she said that because that was true. But now, I am starting to regret that. She isn't going to be able to do it without us having to also hire help. So, it's not worth it. "I've actually been rethinking that Gabby. Honestly...you getting another job would just be counterproductive. All the money you earn from your job would probably just go right to daycare instead of into savings or stuff that is useful like food and clothes." Gabby then thought about it and agreed with me. "Well, if I work during the pandemic...it can all go into savings." I nodded when she said that before going to kiss her head. "Can you please just rest for now? Enjoy this time with Louie. Heck, that's why I am not working this afternoon. I want to spend the day with you guys in bed."

Gabby smiled when I said that and nodded as she went to kiss me softly. "I like that idea. So, when we get home...we are going to put sweats on and then head to bed?" I nodded and smiled when she said that. "That was the plan. And believe me when I say this Gabby, we have a lot of savings so...you don't need a job right now." Gabby smiled when I said that when we got home. "God, I swear you are just the best husband in the entire world." I smiled when she said that before going to get my keys to the front door. Opening it for us, I went to set Louie down. "Louie, how about you get undressed? Then, you can go put your PJs on. We are going to go relax in bed as a family for a while." Louie turned around to look at me and nodded when I said that, excited.

Going to take off my winter coat, I went to put it in the front closet before looking at Gabby as she waited for me. Going to grab her hand as I walked up to her, I smiled because we were about to get comfortable in each other's arms when we got upstairs. "Honestly, I really think that was the right thing to do. Us going outside at least once a day has to be our new daily ritual okay? It's healthy for us, Louie and the babies." Gabby nodded when I said that and smiled at me. "You sir make a lot of good points." I laughed when she said that before going to lead her towards the stairs. "After you." Taking a few steps up, Gabby turned to look at me and then leaned down to kiss me softly. "When Louie is asleep..." I then smiled. "We'll see how much energy you have ok?"

Gabby nodded and smiled when I said that. "Wow, a husband saying no to sex. That's a first." I laughed when she said that. "I said we'll see. I just don't want to announce it in front of Louie." I then went to grab her butt as we made our way upstairs, squeezing it. Gabby then smiled when I did that before going to wrap her arm around my back, ready to cuddle up to me in bed.
