Matt's POV: As I turned to see who was talking to me, I was a bit shocked when I saw Peter Mills standing behind me. It was no secret that their relationship was not the best when he left Chicago to go to North Carolina but...it was nice for him to come pay his respects. I then looked at everybody and nodded. "Of course Pete, I am sure that Boden would be humbled that you came to pay your final respects." I then went to shake his hand and smiled at him. "By the way, I want to say that your eulogy was very well spoken. It was the perfect way to describe Boden."
I nodded and agreed with him. "How's Gabby?" That's when Gabby walked over to me when she saw Pete. "I am good Pete." Pete then turned to look at her and just looked at her pregnant stomach. "Wow, you guys are expecting." I nodded and smiled. "Triplets." Gabby smiled when I said that before wrapping her arm around my back. "Listen Matt, I think I might just go to the firehouse okay? I am not comfortable going to the cemetery when it's snow. I am scared to fall and stuff. I am not wearing appropriate shoes for going to the cemetery." I then sighed.
"You sure Gabby...this is your last chance to say goodbye to him. I know you babe, you are going to feel guilty if you don't go." Gabby then looked at me and went to wrap her arm around me. "I already feel bad enough that our kids will never meet him. I don't want to feel bad that you didn't come. We both know you are going to feel really guilty tonight if you don't come." Gabby sighed and nodded. "Fine, but I am staying in the car." I nodded and agreed with her. "Of course." Gabby then looked at Pete and smiled at him. "Glad you could come."
Pete then went to hug her but she stood back. "Sorry Pete, I want to but...you are not in our circle really. You came from North Carolina and under the current circumstances, I would rather not get too close." He then looked at her and understood. "Right, of course. I am sorry." I nodded and then went to rub Gabby's back. "Antonio." Antonio then walked up to us. "What's up Matt?" I then smiled at him. "Can you go to the firehouse with Gabby? She isn't wearing appropriate shoes to go to the cemetery. However, I am going to go." Gabby then looked at me.
"You sure." I nodded. "I can tell you need to go to the washroom and have to eat." I nodded. "Yes. I am going to grab something on the way. I didn't want to say it." I nodded when she said that. "Then listen, you go to the firehouse and we are going to go give Boden a ride to the cemetery. Then, we will come do the celebration of life at the firehouse?" Going to kiss her forehead, I smiled at her. "Take a little nap in my bed until I am there okay?" Gabby nodded and smiled, letting me go when I saw Donna and Terrence. "You guys want to ride with us?"
Terrence nodded. "Can I?" I nodded and smiled before turning to look around to see who I could kick off. "Pete, Stella. Sorry but, I changed my mind Pete. You can follow. The guests of honor have asked if we can give them a ride with us." Pete then looked at me and nodded. "Right, of course." Pete and Stella then both got out of the truck. "Everybody, move around to let them in and then we are going to leave." We all agreed and nodded. Looking at Pete, I smiled at him. "Sorry for just offering and then rescinding." Pete then laughed. "It's okay. I will see you there."
I nodded and smiled as I went to get into the truck to drive Boden to the Cemetery.
