Dawsey: Starting a Family Part 2

Chapter 173

Matt's POV: Once me and Antonio finished shopping at the grocery store, I smiled as we both checked out and were now on our way out. Looking at him, I just smiled and shook her head. "I still can't believe you bought that huge ass chocolate bar." Antonio then shrugged. "It's a way for me to control my urges to drink or have drugs. Basically, chocolate has replaced it." I nodded when he said that before rubbing his back as I went to push the shopping cart towards our van. "This is new." I nodded and agreed with him. "Yes. Now, you coming back to the house with me? I am sure that Gabby wouldn't mind." Antonio laughed and agreed. "I already texted her." 

I then looked at him. "And you couldn't have told me that? I was worried she fell asleep. I have been wracking my brain wondering whether Louie was okay." Antonio then went to rub my back and understood. "Sorry, they are fine." I then decided to grab my phone and sent Gabby a text. 'Everything still all good at home? I just finished. Antonio coming over?' I then went to put my phone in my pocket while putting the bags in the back of my car. "I still have to stop at home and drop my stuff off. It's on the way. So, maybe we can stop there...and then I can keep following you so that I can help with the stuff in here?" I thought about it and nodded. "Sure thing."

That's when Gabby texted me back. 'Yes, everything's fine babe. Yes, he's coming. Can we cancel the romantic dinner and reschedule for tomorrow?' I sighed when she said that. "You're coming into the house aren't you?" Antonio nodded when I said that. "That okay?" I nodded. "You just screwed up my plans for a date though. That's when I remembered something and went to text Gabby. 'We can do it when Louie's asleep okay? We can just snack until supper.' Gabby then quickly texted me back. 'Right that was the plan. Okay, that's what we'll do then.' I agreed and smiled before putting my phone away. "Looks like date night is tonight instead after bedtime."

Antonio then turned to look at me. "It'll be good practice. Unless you have a babysitter, all of your date nights are going to be after he goes to sleep anyways." I nodded when he said that and smiled at him as we stood at the back of my car. "So, how are you dealing with this pandemic? Where are Eva and Diego staying mostly?" Antonio sighed when I said that. "They are staying with their mom mostly. I mean, I am going to try and isolate as much as I can but...at the end of the day, I have the risker job which means that it's just safer for them to be there." I nodded and understood what he meant. "I get it man." Antonio then shook his head. "No, not really."

I then sighed. "Antonio, Gabby is pregnant with triplets and I have a 22-month old son at home. So, when I say that I understand what you mean...I understand what you mean." Antonio then looked at me and nodded. "Right, I didn't even think about that." I then nodded. "And I have information that you don't have. Dude, I am a fire captain and Chief has asked me to help him deal with the paramedics since Gabby is a paramedic and I have contacts in the medical field." Antonio then looked at me and just listened. "I am still friends with some of Hallie's friends who are infectious disease specialists. So, yes...I have a lot of information that you don't have."

Antonio smiled when I said that. "Can you keep me in the loop then?" I nodded when he said that. "I promise. Now listen, I am going to get in my car so that we can both head home. You can hang out with your nephew because you have been isolating. But, if Gabby changes her mind...you do not question her okay? She is already scared and I can tell that her stress levels are elevated. So...I am trying to keep our circle small and family. Please do not push her." Antonio nodded and smiled. "Hey, you are her husband and you make the rules when it comes to your kids so...I have to respect that. I am just the uncle." 

Antonio nodded and agreed with me. "Now listen, I am going to get in my car and we can head to my place...then we can head to your place. Okay?" I agreed and smiled at him before going to close my trunk. Walking away to go to his car and putting his groceries away, I went to get in my car before turning to look at Antonio. "Actually Antonio, can I just go to my place and you can come when you're done? I am not going into your place. Your kids..." Antonio nodded when I said that. "Of course. Now listen, get going." I agreed and laughed when he said that before going to finish putting all of my groceries in our van. Once that was done, I put my cart away and then went to get in the driver's seat.

Going to pull out of the parking spot, I drove by Antonio and waved to him. "See you later." Antonio nodded and agreed with me when I said that and waved to me. Driving away, I smiled as I went to go home to my family.
