y/n pov:
i woke up at 5:30 this morning, because i have a shift at the dinner from 6:45am - 5:00pm. i'm a waitress, its just a part time job to get some money, i work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and sometimes a Sunday. i got out of bed, straightened my hair after i got out the shower, got my uniform on and walked downstairs. i'm 22 and saving up for my own apartment, but for now i live in my childhood room in my mum's house.

"are you free on Thursday darling?" my mum says as i walk over to the kitchen table with a cup of tea in my hand (i don't drink coffee in the morning aha) "nothing why?" i say taking a sip.
"you know my friend Debbie?" my mum questioned
"the British one who lives in America?" i asked looking at my phone
"yep, well she is staying over here for a little while with her daughter" she said and i jumped in
"and you want me to hang with her daughter?" i say looking up from my phone
"if you don't mind? she's 25, British, likes that thing you watch...what is it mevel? marcel?-"
"mavel?" i help
"yes! so you two would get on great" she says persuasively
"okay, what's her name?" i agree
"Florence" she says

*time skip to Thursday morning*

i'm on the couch watching Iron Man 2 when my mum walks through the door and says "they're here hun" i pause the tv and get up towards the kitchen to get them drinks when they come in.
i hear mumbled conversations from the door "debs!" "hi y/m/n (your mum's name) this is Florence" "hi" "it's great to meet you Florence, come on in"
and then my mum walks in, Debbie and- FLORENCE PUGH OMG
i think they could tell i was in shock and so my mum nudged me "oh sorry, i'm y/n, great to see you again Debbie" i go up and give her a hug "lovely to see you too darling" she smiles at me, i turned to Florence, "and your Florence right?" i decided to play it off as if i didn't know who she was. "yeah but you can call me Flo" she smiles at me and shakes my hand. OMG FLORENCE PUGH JUST SHOOK MY HAND
"so y/n, why don't you take Flo to the shopping centre? you can use my car if you want" my mum suggested but. it felt more like i was being told to
"sure" i turn to Flo "follow me"

it's been a comfortable silence for about five minutes as i drive us to the shopping centre about half an hour away.
"so my mum tells me you like marvel?" i say still pretending i don't know shes an actress
"yeah, it's amazing, you like it too?" she turns to me
"of course, who's your favourite character?" i ask
"umm that's hard, either Black Panther or Spider-man, how about you?" she says
"y/f/m/c (your favourite marvel character) definitely"

we chat about marvel and a few other things for the next 20 minutes

"what do you do for your job, if you have one?" Flo asks
"i'm a waitress at *insert a random restaurant or something name* but i work part time, what about you"
omg what an idiot! you know what she does, come on y/n!!
"oh i'm an actress" she says casually
"i know, sorry, that sounds so creepy, i mean i didn't want to seem awkward, when we first met being like 'oh my god it's Florence Pugh' you know?" i say very fast
"i thought so" she says and we both laugh

we spend the rest of the afternoon chatting, having some lunch and shopping.
"wait, is it only me who has just realised our parents have set us up, you know like a date?" Flo says
"i was thinking the exact same thing" i say while we make our way out the shopping centre
"not that i haven't enjoyed it though" she says and stops next to the boot of the car
"same!" i open the boot and we put our many bags in the boot and both get in the car
when i'm driving i take Florence's hand in mine while i'm driving and she looks at me and smiles and i smile back

i pull into the drive and Flo checks her phone to see a message from her phone
"oh my mum says she's gone to the hotel, i'll get a cab there" she says getting out
i get out and walk over to her while saying "no no, you can stay here if you want?"
"you don't mind?" she says
"of course, come on in"

so basically, if my mum and Debbie hadn't set Florence and I up on a date, i would have never met the love of my life <3
