y/n pov: 'hi i'm y/n, i guess your my new mum?' no no, 'hi my names y/n, what's yours?' ugh nope, 'hi, it's nice to meet you' omg this is so difficult! today i'm getting adopted by a woman called....well i don't exactly know her name yet, but i'm so excited and nervous. i'm 14 and it's hard for teenagers to get adopted, and i was adopted once, but then the family that i was with had kids of their own and gave me back to the system. yeah, it was rough, SO i have to make a good impression on my new mother?
"y/n y/l/n, that's the name y/n y/l/n, could you please go to the main office, your new parent is here for you" the speakers said omg i'm so nervous
i get my suitcase, say goodbye to my room and go to the lunch hall to say bye to all my friends. i say bye to them all but the one friend i really wanted to see, wasn't there. Kiara, Kie for short, my best friend! we got into a/c/n (adoption centre name) on the same day, so we class that as our birthdays, we're the same age and spend pretty much all day together, well except from today...
"Taylor, have you seen Kie?" i ask my friend but before he could answer i hear a voice shouting from behind me "Y/N/N" i know that voice. i turn around and see Kiara. "KIE!" i run and hug her "i'm so happy for you" she says in the hug, we both start to cry "i wish you could go with me" i say still in the hug. "no no, enjoy your family, i'll get mine soon, just don't forget about me" she whispers the last part and i pull out the hug and face her "as if i'd forget you!!" "besties for life?" i say holding my pinkie out "besties for life" she replies putting her pinkie around mine.
"excuse me, y/n?" someone behind Kie said, she turns around and i move to the side so i can see. it was our mental heath worker, Maddie and OMG FLORENCE PUGH WAS STOOD NEXT TO HER. i tried to act cool but i was gobsmacked, i looked at Kie and she looked at me we both had the same expression on our faces. the whole lunch hall fell silent, all eyes were on the 4 of us.
"hello, one of you must be y/n?" Florence Pugh said. OMG SHE SAID MY NAME. "yeah, that would be me" i stepped forward so i was a little in-front of Kiara. "hi y/n, i'm the woman adopting you" she says with a smile. no way- FLORENCE PUGH IS GOING TO BE MY ADOPTIVE MOTHER. i think i was silent for too long because Kie nudged me and hinted towards Flo, telling me to say something. "that's great, it's good to meet you" i say smiling.
she seemed happy i wasn't too nervous or uncomfortable in this situation, because she kept smiling at me. "well our car is outside, so do you want to go?" she asks so politely. "yeah yeah of course, but if i could just a second" i say turning to Kiara. the rest of the lunch hall obviously got sick of watching, because no one was really looking at us and everyone was doing their own thing. "i love you Kie" i say going into a hug "i love you too y/n/n!" we pull out of the hug "enjoy your new family" she says giggling "ahaha i will, and i'll message you as soon as i can okay?" i say "okay! now go! your new mom is waiting!" she says pushing me towards Florence. i give her one last wave goodbye, then i go with Maddie and Florence. it's a comfortable silence as we walk to the doors leaving a/c/n. we stop and Maddie looks at us both,
"i'm very happy for you y/n, Florence looks like she is going to be a great mother for you" Maddie says. Maddie was always so nice to us, she always wanted to know how we were and that we felt comfortable in a/c/n right from day one when she started working there. "thank you Maddie" i say and give her a hug, then she says bye to us both and walks away, i look at Florence and she says "let's go then!" she sounded very excited, which calmed my nerves down. she opened the door for me and we walked out to her car. i went to sit in the back but she said "you can sit in the passenger seat if you want sweetheart" so i did. when we got in the car, the first 5 minutes were a comfortable silence then Florence spoke up.
"so what would you like me to call you y/n? i mean i know that's your name, but is there a nickname you prefer?" "i don't mind, most people call me y/n/n" i say turning to Florence. "okay" she says. "do you want the radio on y/n/n?" she asks "if you don't mind" i reply. "of course not" she says and puts the radio on "and you can call me Flo now, until you feel comfortable calling me mum, or you can call me mum now, i'm fine with whatever you want" she says i just reply with and "okay"
we had a little chat on the way back, things like, what are our favourite shows, who's our celeb crushes, where we want to travel to, things like that. we pull up at a beautiful house in the country side. "this is your new home y/n/n" she says looking at me with a smile "it's beautiful" i state, and we both get out the car and walk into the house. "through that door, is the living room, and then there's the door to the back garden" she points as she is saying the rooms "that door takes you to the kitchen, personally it's my favourite room, then upstairs, the first room on the right is yours!" she says taking my coat off me and hanging it up next to hers. "cool!" "you can go up to your room and check it out now if you want?" she suggested. "of course!!" i say and walk up the stairs and go to the first room on the right. omg it's huge!! it has a double bed, walk-in wardrobe and an on sweet! "oh my god, THIS ROOM IS AMAZING" i shout and Flo came up the stairs and stood behind me "i'm glad you like it, we can obviously decorate it however you like, but i just thought for now that this would be good" she says pretty proud of herself "thank you" i say and i turn around and give her a hug. she wasn't expecting it but then she hugged back.
*time skip* it's now 11:30 at night and Florence and i are watching the 4th Twilight movie. i yawn and Flo looks at me and says "come on darling i think your too tired, we can watch the rest tomorrow" she says getting up, i agree and follow her. we go into my room and i get into bed and Flo sits beside me. "thank you for making me feel welcome" i say getting comfy in bed. "i'm glad you feel welcomed sweetheart" she kisses me on the head and walks to the door, "do you want it shut or open y/n/n?" she asked "could you leave it open please?" i ask "of course" she replies. she turns the lights of and says "good night y/n/n" "good night, mum" i say and she seemed so happy i called her mum, but it just felt right!
