We are sitting in the hammock together
Bodies overlapping
We are like sisters
Our personalities compliment each other
Having been friends for so many lifetimes
I look up to the sky and ask my friend
"What if there are two guys right now staring back at us from somewhere in space?"
My friend laughs
"I don't know. Should we tell them hi?"
"Hi!!!" we yell
I almost imagine that you two say hi back
That between miles of space
You stand before the universe
With a smile on your face
You seem so brave
You take everything in stride
Care for everyone you know
I find sympathy in your eyes
I only wish that those eyes
Could drown me in your dreams
Your ideals
I wish we had a perfect world
You seem to know
Exactly what it needs
If only it could be
Old on the outside
Young on the inside
Memories and feelings
You'd rather deny
As you go on being a light
Hoping everyone will feel a little better
A grandpa in a young body
You're in no rush to grow up
To face the challenges
Life will throw at you
Horrors of wars and politics
That you know so well
I haven't been where you've been
I wouldn't know what you feel
I'm as young as the sky
As fresh as a daisy on a hill
Wise as trees
I am me and you are you
It is for others that you must remain strong
For it is with friends and family that you belong
Keep strong-child of the Universe
