Chapter 3

until I heard Baylee scream I opened my eyes and she was floating but she stopped screaming and just lay there floating in the air and she pulled herself up dropping her bum to the bed sitting up with wide eyes "mummy we need to go now" I was still waking up and completely confused "now mummy get dressed" I got out of bed and threw on joggers and a hoody drake was already dressed "Baylee where are we going" he said cautiously "outside. We need to go now" we looked at each other and I helped Baylee into her nightgown ad drake put socks on her feet then put her boots on. And soon wee were out the door. Drake had Baylee in his arms and held my hand in the other. Baylee was pointing towards the caves so we went in that direction but carefully. There was a lot of dangerous wildlife around here so we were careful to not make much noise. Soon we stopped when we smelled blood in the air and carefully moved forward. "It's animal blood" I said to drake he nodded "Baylee what are we looking for" "a baby wolf. A cougar ate its pack. He's the only one left if we don't save him he's going to die. He's an orphan" she said it and we heard a small whimper so we approached even more cautiously and as we rounded the corner there was blood everywhere and wolves completely ripped into shreds. But in the cave was a tiny baby wolf all alone "let me down daddy"
"I don't think that's a good idea Baylee"
"He needs me daddy so he knows he's not alone. Please put me down" drake put her down but both of us were on guard and she bent down and said "come now boy" the tiny wolf slowly approached but when he got close enough he pounced landing beside Baylee cowering into her chest "let's take you home boy, come now" Baylee took our hands and pulled us towards home with the baby following us. When we got to the house Baylee took the wolf in and lay in front of the fire with him. Then she got up and ran to the fridge and pulled out some minced meat and brought it back to him. Opening it and letting him eat the food me and drake were both baffled and he linked me "love that's a wild wolf. We can't actually keep it can we?"
"Normaly I would say no way but I can feel a connection between them, like they are both orphans and they both watched there parents die. I think we need to let her do what she needs to do. And let's face it, look what she could do to Dutch"
"I understand that but it's a wild wolf. What if it turns on her. What if it hurts her or someone else?"
"She has better control over animals then iv ever seen. Plus if we don't it's going to die and I'm not letting anything else that she cares about die anytime soon"
"I understand that but he could be really dangerous"
"Ino. But maybe in a way that makes her feel better. Dutch was huge but he was a large softy. This one will kill for its alpha. She is it's alpha so maybe we need to trust that for whatever reason this wolf has came into her life for the right reason" drake unlinked and pulled me into a hug kissing me on the cheek, "so Baylee what's his name?" She grinned up at us "he's called Aspen" I couldnt help but laugh "you are so random. Welcome to the family Aspen. But Baylee are you sure he won't hurt anyone?"
"He will but only when they try to hurt me." Drake squeezed me and I could feel his composure break a little so I spoke again "ok so where will he sleep?"
"In my bed" then she lay down beside her wolf spooning him infront of the fire "can you make me breakfast now? I'm hunger" I smiled and nodded bringing drake to the kitchen getting baylees breakfast ready. "I wonder what kind of wolf it is!"
"I would say a grey wolf, he will get big especially if he's getting feed well he will need a run out the back of our house for when Baylee is at school. He would be to dangerous to have without her, il ask the contractors to build one, and maybe move some boulders added to act as a cave" I just nodded then took Baylee her breakfast then handed her the iPad so she could watch paw patrol. While her wolf sat quietly beside her. Then I went back and made coffee and started to prepare the babies bottles as drake made us breakfast. While the bottles cooled we sat and ate our breakfast talking about everything and anything until a very white Ben walked in slowly "em guys why is there a wolf in the living room" standing as tall as possible the baby wolf was standing over Baylee snarling at Ben "Baylee can you please tell your wolf to stop that" she thought about it and I gave her a stern look "ok fine aspen stop that's uncle Ben you can't eat him ok. Even though he wasn't going to eat him anyway he was just going to practice protecting me" drake was holding in his laugh "that is not funny why has she got a wolf. It's going to kill someone" Ben said he was completely panicked "calm yourself Ben it's ok. If we don't take it home it will die alone. So we will let her keep it"
"Your both insane" he walked over to grab coffee but this time drake said "insane or not. If it helps her feel safe then that's what we will do especially after what happened to Dutch ok?" Ben nodded he understood he was just a little frightened "ok so what's the plans for today? When does our flight leave? You will need a cage for the wolf if he's coming on the plane" I nodded "ok so we go shopping this morning and come home, lift our bags and head to the airport. Sound good?"
"Perfect love. But what do we do with aspen until we get back" the 3 of us were staring at the wolf and Baylee. Just then emma walked in "aw cool is that a wolf pup" baylee got up and ran to her godmother and aspen got up to follow her, she told Emma all about our busy night "well isn't he the luckiest wolf in the world to have you as it's alpha" she grinned at emma then threw Ben a dirty look "at least you have some faith in my capabilities" then waved in bens direction as she walked back to her spot infront of the fire we all laughed "sassy ass you know I have faith in you, you little shit" Ben mumbled. "If you do go pet aspen and prove it" he looked between us all then got up and walked over to Baylee "I'm sorry you think that. Aspen come here." Baylee pointed to Ben and aspen walked over to him "be nice aspen he's my daddies beta so he's just like you" aspen walked up to Ben who petted his nose and aspen licked his hand and started to play with him drake just laughed "I swear that's the cutest alpha iv ever met"
"It's so adorable she actually idolises you both" emma said and drake pulled me into his knee "and we idolise her to" sniffing my neck.
