Cadens POV

An explosion sounded from behind me and immediately after so did Baylees scream. But this wasn't a normal scream, this was a guttural, kill everyone and everything scream. It was like an atomic bomb.

Time went in slow motion as The ground started to shake as waves of her scream poured out of her from behind me sending everyone but me flying in the other direction killing all humans instantly and knocking our men out. I watched as the drones in the sky exploded and trees started to fall. Even the grass and stones were pushed away from us. I could hear windows shatter and combust.

But as I watched in slow motion black dots cloud my vision dancing around trying their best to blind me but a sharp pain to my chest made me ignore them. I grabbed it heaving, trying not to puke. But As I pulled my hand away from my wet chest I realised my hand was coated in blood.

And that's when my brain started to work again as I turned to find her. As my eyes landed on her body I started to tremble. Our life flashed before my eyes as I watched her body send ripples of power through the ground. She was against the wall unconscious and even in that state her body was protecting her.

I immediately woke up and ran to her and only when I fell to my knees in front of her did I realise there was a large piece of metal sticking out of her chest. Hitting her directly in the heart. I heaved and screamed in pain.

Not pain from the physical injuries. No, this pain was much much worse. It was radiating over my body as I realised Baylee, my lifeline and reason for existing was dying in front of me.

She was dying and I couldn't stop it. There was no me without her and all I could do was wish that death took me with her.

She was everything and more. She was my entire life and I can't believe she was dying. The waves of protection started to die out and I knew death was close.

So I lifted her body into my arms cradling her to protect her from the world around us. I held onto her and cried. Too weak to do anything else and too broken to care about what I looked like. I held her in my arms and cried, kissing her face and neck and heart. I was losing her and I couldn't cope with that fact.

Caron's POV

"I wonder how it's going? I have a bad feeling about today?"

Sarah the nanny said stressed thinking about the war happening back at home. Her nails were almost gone as she chewed them waiting to hear word from Maymay.

She wasn't fighting and was our only point of contact to find out what was happening at home.

"Sarah dear, you need to sit down and relax. Come here honey i'll make you a cup of tea"

My husband Vincent held his arms out to her and she immediately went to him as he led her to the table to sit down.

He was a big softy, he looked at this entire pack as his own children. He loved them all so much it was refreshing. He used to hate even the word werewolf, but not anymore. Now he sees them as family.

"Vincent is right, hon. Just sit down and try to relax"

Just then I heard giggling and small footsteps as the small herd of kids came running through the door with my daughter Ciara hot on their tail.

She must have fallen asleep on the decking where she was sunning herself because her face was covered in marker. She had Black bushy eyebrows and large pink cheeks and purple lips with the word ogre on her head.

We erupted in laughter as we took in the sight before us.

"I'm going to fucking kill them"

She says through clenched teeth making me roar and laugh harder as I realise they had coloured her teeth in black. I nearly fell over cackling at the sight of her.
