"Yes, being ambitious and striving for something isn't bad but that isn't all. Narayan sides by the suras because he knows that at the end of the day, he can get the devas to do what he needs them to do, considering they are eternally in debt to him. Asuras don't notion such things like doing what Narayan needs to get done." He explained.

I gave him a blank stare. Omkara laughed. Sounds a lot unlike what I know about mama. He's not someone who supports someone just for his benefit.

"Suras have a structure in their organization similar to that of a corporate structure. We have departments. You know how they say that we have 'mukkoti devata', right? 330 million gods or 33 kinds of gods. Both of them are true. 330 million is the entire population of swarga that works to keep up the world's working. All of them are divided into 33 departments. All these departments have a specific function. All of these 330 million gods keep the world running. To run all these devas together, one has to be really efficient. 12 of Adityas, 8 of Vasus, 8 of Rudras and 7 Paalakas make up the heads of these mukkoti devata. These 33 devas head all the 33 departments of Swarga. Like managers. If they don't work properly, the balance will be disturbed. All of them have to do their work properly or else, all of the organization collapses, and the creation will be in chaos. The one who has to keep this balance is Narayan. In a way of explaining, he's the reigning Emperor and the 33 devas are merely Kings. All of these have to work exactly as the Emperor needs. If they do entirely as they please with no heed for what he needs, it will be quite disturbing for the creation. So, Narayan chooses to keep them in power because in the long run, the suras have always, without much questioning, done the job that Narayan needs them to do."

"The asuras don't?"

"The asuras value their no-strings-attached policy way too much. It is like having complete freedom with nothing holding someone down. For a while it feels nice but then, it is bound to make one tread down the wrong path. That complete freedom makes them forget what is necessary to be done and what others need. They don't understand that one part of it. They live just for themselves."

"What is wrong with living for themselves?"

He looked at me. The look was as if he was remembering something.

"In our lifetime, we all have to care for someone else other than ourselves. Friends, family, neighbors, or those who work for us."

"All of you, devas, almost make me laugh with things you believe yourself to be. Like you have never done a thing wrong in your entire life. But surprisingly, you believe you have the right to judge others. Immortal but live with the constant fear of being overthrown. God save me if I have to live like that."

I had a different understanding of the devas. They're not as perfect as they show themselves.

"Though mind telling me why you're judging me? You judge Indra, okay. But why me? I'm not responsible for your situation. Also, yes there are people who never done a thing wrong. Bhrata Yama and Bhrata Shani. Indra has tried to find faults in their working but hasn't been successful till date."
