'When I told you that my village people use wifi to manifest you'll be preaching. Ngwanu explain how I'm writing basic tech exam on my birthday? Eh? Of all subjects! I for even manage homec o',
'Enyi a! We will sing for you after exams, let us rest before your Ijebu witches will decide to manifest on us all', Tobe said from somewhere in the back.
Esther merely smiled at his response. She was trying to remember how Snr Daniel showed her to accurately and quickly draw angles using a compass.
'You will not answer me baa?',
'Adeshola, in the name of all things holy happy birthday. But please, chill till after exam today na, no vex abeg. Ejo, biko', she pleaded with her.
'Okay', and she didn't say anything else. Esther knew she was screwed but she really wanted to remember what Snr Daniel taught her.
She smiled as soon as she remembered one and the rest followed immediately.
After the exams, she found that Shola was packing up her bag to leave which was unusual.
She immediately went and hugged her from behind.
'What's up?', was her calm response.
Med o! Babe don vex.
She sat in front of her and waited till she raised her head.
'After vexing come and collect your happy birthday o, I de wait you',
'Woh, I'm not in the mood abeg',
'You will mood o. Happy Borns day to thee!',
Happy Borns day to thee eh!
Happy Borns day, happy Borns day!
Happy Borns day to thee..aha!Esther began doing an exaggerated cultural dance around her shaking her none existent buttocks making Shola squeeze her lips to fight the smile that was struggling to make it's presence known.
'Happy Borns day to gi!
Happy happy Borns day to gi! Happy Borns day o daddy oooo
Happy Borns day to giBrother Hallelujah are you there?!', Esther said and Munachi came to stand in front of her.
He placed some stuff inside his shirt to look pot bellied and he took an imaginary microphone from Esther.
'Blethlen pllllaaaiiiissseee da lordt!!!',
'Hanenuya!!!'
Happy Borns day to thee
Happy Borns day to thee oh baba
Happy Borns day .. Ade Shola
Happy Borns day to theeAnger totally forgotten, Shola laughed her heart out. Gripping tightly to her side.
Through the madness Snr Maluchukwu walked and just watched the mini concert and laughed as different people came out to mimic varying people while singing for Shola.
He took a quick look at his watch and stepped forward to give her the gift he got her.
For every member of the class that he knew of their birthday he always got them a gift. Sometimes writing materials, sometimes it was snacks.
Today he got her something that would make her scream. He left before the screaming began.
Of course he was barely at the senior's corridor when he head the cheer from the class and Shola's dramatic scream as well.
The new fx calculator would really help her in her math. She fell in love with his while he was doing tutorials for them so he got her one.
'Babe, de calm down na!',
'Oyo oooo, Shola don get fx calculator!!!! Their father!!! Wia d maths de!!! Their real daddy!!! Omoooooo!!! Opor opor!!',
'This excitement reach engagement own o',
'Mr fren gerara hia!!! ',
She twirled with the said calculator and accepted other gifts from her classmates.
Wrist watches, ear rings, hair bands, birthday cards, etc.
'Shey you go rest now baa?' Esther asked as they were walking home.
With all the madness they still finished from school two hours before every other class.
'I can't rest o, cake de hungry me',
'Oya go ask your papa, e de full ground',
'Askance.. na mumci go run dt one o. You thinking say en remember say Dem born me today? Alaye leave matter, but you guys are the best though. Thanks for the necklace
'You're welcome'.
Kech watched the girls as they chatted on, laughing making jokes. Unaware of his presence.
But that was fine, there was a time for everything.
For now he would bid his time.
Daniel watched Kech from the library window.
For Kech's sake he shouldn't touch any of those girls or any of her classmates for that matter.
It would end in pain for him.
He turned and returned to his seat, and tried to focus on the past questions he was revising.
