'Esther, Snr Kosi is calling you',
'Where is she?', she immediately stood up from the desk she was sitting on.
'She was walking towards her class when she asked me to call you',
'Okay', she walked briskly. On arriving the class door she stood a good distance from it and requested permission to enter the class.
'Excuse me Seniors may I come in?!',
'Yes', was all she needed to approach the door. Today was not the day for a beating.
'This way', she followed Snr Kosi's voice and found her at her desk.
'Take these to your class, I'll be there shortly. Nobody should leave that class under any guise till I get there', she said in her usual stern manner.
'Yes senior', she quickly picked up the books, her school bag and water bottle before heading out of the class.
Kasper watched the entire transaction without saying a word. He knew his class girls were jealous of the attention Daniel was giving Esther, so they've chosen passive aggression in dealing with her.
The last person that dared flog her for something she didn't do, just because she was passing while she was punishing a set of people got the scolding of her life.
Since then they've left her alone.
Only calling her all the way from her class to theirs for meaningless errands when Daniel was out of class.
'Whose books are you carrying?', Daniel asked her immediately she stepped out of the class.
'Good afternoon Snr Daniel. It's for my prep supervisor',
He just looked at her waiting for a better explanation. Knowing she wouldn't say more than that, he gestured for her to walk with him back to her class.
He was assigned the class next to hers for prep supervision. He initially wanted her coming over to join him there, but Kosi had told him that he didn't need to attract unnecessary attention to the girl.
Fully aware of the meaningless errands they send her, he made it Kosi's business to keep an eye on her.
'Daniel? Let her drop my property before you guys go anywhere o, I'm not interested',
Daniel one glanced behind him to show that he heard her.
As they approached their block silence fell. Nobody wanted to test Snr Daniel, rumors about his system of punishing offenders left people scared.
After dropping the books she went to her bag to retrieve the assignment he gave her the previous day.
He took them without saying a word and walked into his own class.
After about an hour he sent for her.
'You're still missing this log problems. And it's always at this point, sit down',
She did as she was told and once again he out her through the assignment he gave her.
'We'll look at longitude and latitude tomorrow. I need to sleep', was all he said before stifling a yawn.
'You're going home?', she asked glancing at her wrist watch.
'No, the library. Tell Kosi that I said you should come wake me in an hour's time'
'Alright', she quickly gathered his books into his bag before stepping out of the class ahead of him.
She was already seated when the said bag was dropped on her desk by Daniel.
'Bring it when you're coming', was all he said before he left.
She quietly set the bag next to hers and concentrated on her book.
At exactly one hour Kosi sent her to the library where she found him sprawled on the only couch in their library.
'Snr Daniel?', she called him softly. He didn't stir which was unusual.
She reached her hand to shake him awake but the said hand was pulled till she was sitting next to him.
'I really don't like it when you call me Snr Daniel', he said in his sleep laden voice.
Her cheeks instantly heated up for two reasons, one was how close she was sitting next to him and two he hadn't let go of her hand.
'But you're a senior. I should address you properly',
'Well don't, it's annoying. Pass the water in my bag',
She opened the bag and gave him the bottle of water she saw.
He sat up abruptly, bringing his body too close for comfort to Esther's body. She immediately looked down, not being able to look at his face.
He used his index finger to raise her face to look at him.
'You're beautiful', was all he said before placing a kiss on her cheek.
Esther could have sworn that her blood got frozen at that instant.
One of Kech's goon watched from the shadows of the library. Things were finally looking serious between those two, the time to strike was getting closer.
