Friday morning was here and she was really contemplating not going to school, Snr Daniel would in school today.

The pain that fall was causing her was more than she anticipated. Yes, she has had injuries falling down while dancing. But none was as painful as this one. Abi malaria was showing itself?

She had hidden her fansider as usual instead of drinking it as she's been doing for more than two year now.

She took paracetamol last night, but this morning the leg was aching as she moved.

Sitting on her bed she flexed her knee, ignoring the pain till it dulled down before heading to the bathroom to prepare for school.

On the bright side there was no assembly today.

With that thought she walked out of her house, waited for her brother and they both took bike to school.

It was mid day when the bell for first break rang that she finally got the courage to step out of her class. It turned out to be a bad idea as someone ran into her making her land on her bum.

She couldn't even scream. She gently touched her head that hit the wall behind her to wince in pain.

The said person who ran into her began stuttering an apology, 'Snr I'm sorry! Hey I'm dead o!! Snr I'm sorry, let me help you'.

Esther tried to get up on her own but hands soon lifted her off the floor. She smiled at Toby as he carried her back to the class. The junior student immediately knelt down outside the class awaiting her punishment.

'Who beat the pikin way de outside?', someone asked like thirty minutes later. Esther just opened her eyes to look at who was talking.

'What?',

'One ju-girl de outside de cry, and na una way de hia nur de do this levels',

'Woh tell her to go abeg, I didn't punish her',

'Na she do you like this?',

'Na mistake, abeg leave am',

The said girl was so grateful that she asked for permission to come in and apologize again. Esther nodded and asked her to go.

She returned shortly with drinks and snacks for Esther which she declined with a smile. The next time she opened her eyes it was to someone touching her forehead.

She saw Snr Daniel watching her, he wore his glasses today. She tried to raise her head but that in itself proved to be a chore.

'Shhh, can you get up?', he asked in a whisper.

She nodded her head and tried to get up again.

'You'll hurt yourself. I'll be back', he left and she went back to sleep.

She was being carried again, she opened her eyes and found herself being deposited in the Hilux. She heard her brother's voice, then Shola before she closed her eyes again.

The pinching pain on her arm woke her up, she tried to swat it away but someone help her other hand. She opened her eyes and saw her mum holding her hand while someone was setting up an infusion for her.

She groaned in protest.

'My friend hold on let them fix this thing. At your age you can't say when you're not feeling well. Keep that hand where it is so the nurse can do her job', her mum scolded making her pout. Tears gathered in her eyes.

Soon enough the line was set and she was allowed to sleep quietly.

'Open your eyes, you need to take these drugs. I told them you wouldn't like injections but if you do shakara too much I'll have them change it. Ngwa mepe onu, osiso!',

She pulled herself up and took the drugs offered. The infusion was almost finished, for that she was grateful. After taking the drugs her mom arranged pillows behind her to help her sit up.

'So at your age you don't know when it's time to say I'm not feeling well abi? Tata, obere nwa',

Her mum scolded her again.

'Mummy I took paracetamol when the pain started na', she whined.

'As the pain didn't stop with the paracetamol nko? You want to give me high BP this girl!',

'Mummy no, it just started. But the falling up and down juts accelerated everything',

'If you like when I give you fansider throw it away again. Or you think I don't know what you and that brother of yours do? Continue wasting my money',

She wisely kept her mouth shut after that. Her mum was not above slapping her on her sick bed.

'That boy that brought you from school came by but you were sleeping. He said he'll come back later', her mum said while flipping through the channels for something to watch.

'Okay ma', she had not spoken to him since. She wondered what would happen to the boy who tripped her first, and the poor girl who facilitated the second fall.

Soon enough she fell asleep.
