Someone was shouting this early morning, like are they that jobless? Someone cannot sleep in peace. Mtcheewwwwww.

This his new accomadation was getting on his last nerve. The only upside to it was that he didn't have a roommate. Which was a blessing in itself.

Four years with different roommates with different characters ensures you choose to live alone by final year.

A quick glance at his phone showed it was barely 5am. Why exactly could this family not fight by daybreak. Every day was a new rubbish. If they missed their morning cue, then it'll be in the afternoon when the sun was at it's peak.

If by some miracle they remain peaceful, just know that they were going to spend the night settling disputes. Very loudly.

The question he was asking himself everytime and had asked some neighbors was why a family chose to rent an apartment in a student dominated area, and still not have the sense to respect themselves.

His neighbor's door opened shortly. He knew that he too had to get up so that he could prepare for his project defense. At least his work was ready and already proof read by his supervisor.

His clothes were already ironed the previous day. So it was a matter of taking his bath, dressing up and being in class by 8am. He checked the time and decided to give himself 30 minutes more sleep time.

'Hunger in the land!!', one of the boys screamed but they were used to the madness.

You didn't go through any of the engineering departments and remained quiet. They always brought out the animal in you.

To an extent they did his too, but he forced himself to remain a gentleman. His Esther would appreciate that above all else.

His Esther...

Gosh he missed her like crazy. They'd both been busy these past few months with final year pallava. Now they were done, at least he was.

He picked up his phone to look at the pictures she sent to him of her project defense. She looked sweet in her uniform.

'Omo we de wait your card like madt mehn!', a peeping tom suddenly said.

'Money never show guy, I can't put her through any form of suffering',

'We go love o!!', the guy shouted and his colleagues passing laughed.

All through school he hadn't dated any girl, or rather made any serious commitments to any. He couldn't stop comparing them to Esther. When he'd told her what he was doing she'd laughed and told him she'd get even.

The idea alone mad him mad with anger. But she didn't, telling him she had too much respect for herself to do that.

He'd never done it after that.

'I wish you well my guy! Abeg make I fall out', he left them to do whatever they wanted to do. They always found a way to get drunk or high in the name of celebrations.

This was one after party that he knew he was going to go because he didn't drink or smoke. Neither could he bring his Esther there.

When he took off his tie at home and offed his shoes, he decided to call her by video call. It didn't connect, so he left her a message.

'Hey, saw your missed call. How was today?',

He loved hearing her voice. It was his own high.

'Hello, can you hear me? Network is not bad na, Dee say something',

'I'm here babe, just enjoying hearing your voice. Have you done your defense yet?',

'Yea. Yesterday, I'm helping Chisom prepare for hers',

'That's nice. So what's remaining? Mine is convocation, with all my results complete that is',

'Graduation is next. But these people cannot let us have any atom of joy. We were put on shifts at the hospital. At least they didn't give me night shift this time around, at least till next week',

'It's part of the training-',

'I'll nod you if you say that again. Three years never pass?', Daniel laughed and they proceeded to joke around for a few more minutes before hanging up.

Stretching out on his bed his hand touched the book he was reading before he started preparing for his defense. The power of your mind by Pst Chris Oyakhilome.

The first few chapters had helped condition his mind on a whole lot of things.

Some he already knew, others he was just finding out about.

Esther had been the one to suggest he get it, and he didn't regret it for one second. Maybe it was time to finish the book, his time was gradually becoming his own.

At least before the school's demonic clearance sets in.
