Maturity

Becoming a Christian is like a new birth. But after our spiritual birth should follow the process of growing up in our new life as Christians or it will become a very tragic experience.

Hebrews 5:13-14
Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

Anu ba ang characteristics ng infant?

- Mahina, useless, nauuto ETc.

Consequences of remaining a sporitual infant:

- one is Weak and Unstable
Eph. 4:14b "..infants, tossed back and forth by the wave..."

it means na madaling madala ng temptasyon. Ngayon okay, tapos mamaya magkakasala. Magsosorry pero inuulit ulit naman. Minsan dinadahilan nalang na Nobody's perfect pero disisyon nya na talaga ang magkasala.

- Easily Deceived and Led astray
Eph. 4:14c "...and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by cunning craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming."

You should know and understand the truth! Dapat hindi tayo dumepende sa tao na sila na mismo ang magsabi satin about sa bible. Remember, meron jan mga false teachers. Magkukunwari na alam nila ang lahat. Magkukunwari na ang miracles na ginagawa nila ay galing sa Diyos. We should have strong discernment for us not to be deceived.

-Useless
Hebrews 5:12 "In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again."

If you're spiritually infant, even though you know a lot of truths from the bible, you are still useless. Why? Kasi kahit nagbabasa ka ng bible, inuulit mo padin ang kasalanan mo.

-Easily fall into carnal living due to ignorance of the teaching on righteousness
Hebrews 5:13 "Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness.

What we're expected to become:

- perpared for works
Eph. 4:12 "..to prepare God's people for works of service.."

As a Christian, we should be prepared everytime kung may magtatanong sayo about sa faith mo. or kung may hihingi ng advice.

- Be united
Eph. 4:13a "until we all reach unity in the faith...."

- Be united in the knowledge of the son of God

What it takes to become spiritually Mature:

- discipline training
1 Cor. 9:25, 27 "...everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training... we do it to get a crown that will last forever... No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize."

You should discipline yourself. So that you yourself should be qualified for the prize--Which is the eternal life through Jesus.

- Self denial
Luke 9:23a "Then He said to them all: 'if anyone would come after me, he must deny himself..."

(Based from the dictionary, Deny means not to allow.)

Not allowing yourself to have sin. Not allowing the evil things to come to your life.

- Earnest prayer

- Perseverance
James 1:4 "Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Basic Spiritual habits every Christian needs to develop to become mature:

1. Daily time with God
Mark 1:5 "Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place where he pray.

2. Prayer
John 15:7-8 "If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given to you. This is to my father's glory, that you bear kuch fruit showing yourselves to be my deciples."

3. Time with God's word
John 8:31-32 "Jesus said, 'if you hold to my teaching you are really my deciple. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free."

4. Good stewardship of tithing

Guys God loves a cheefrul giver. Sabi bga sa Chapter Give, Nothing belongs to us. It all belongs to God.

5. Overcoming Temptation
John 17:15 "My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but you protect them from the evil one."

6. Christian fellowship
John 13:35 "But this is all men will know that you are my disciples, if you loved one another."

7. Witnessing
Mark 16:15 "He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation'."

8. Worship
John 4:23 "Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the father in spirit and in tuth, for they are the kind of worshipers the father seek."
