Chapter 36:Video Chatting

I flopped down on my bed and pulled out my phone, looking at my home screen. My home screen is a picture of Anya and I sticking out our tongues, and crossing our eyes. Making a silly face

I put my phone down on the bed and started closing my eyes, when my phone dinged. I picked the phone back up and saw Yelena texted me

Yelena
'Hey you got a second someone wants to say hi'

I read the text message and got up, locking the door and walking into the bathroom. Turning on the shower and locking the bathroom door too, I wanted the shower on for good measures in case someone came into my room

I called Yelena and Anya popped up on the screen first, Yelena standing in the background. "Hi baby" I gave Anya a quick wave. Seeing her smile

"Mama, why you in the bathroom?" she asked

"I'm playing hide n seek" I said smiling. I hate lying to my little girl, but right now it's necessary. If it protects her I'd lie to her a million times

"When you coming home?" she asked eager

"Not for a little bit but we can call each other okay" I tried mustering the biggest smile I could make but it just wasn't happening

Instead tears filled my eyes, making my vision go blurry "Is mama sad?" I could see Yelena walking closer to the camera

"No I'm happy and I love you, always remember that" my voice was breaking "Anya I have to go but be good and listen to Auntie Yelena okay? I love you Jelly"

"Okay Mommy I love you Peanut Butter" she gave me a wave before hitting the end call button

I threw my phone against the wall, letting the tears fall down my face. A light stream of tears turned into a full sob

I got up after a few minutes, telling myself to stay strong, I need to keep going for Anya, for my family. I turned the water off and went back into my room

I heard knocking, I walked over opening the door. I'll admit not the face I would ever think would come willingly to my door but I'm hoping Steve came to hear me out

I moved aside letting him walk in, "Hey I came to see how you were doing?" he asked pulling out a bar stool sitting on it

"Why do you care" I spit back at him

"It was just a question" he stood up, pushing the stool back in and turning to the door, walking towards it

"Steve wait" I called out to him

He turned and leaned against the door frame, man would I kill to be that door frame right now. "What Tori I came here to see if you were okay and wanted to explain but it seems your not ready to" he told me, his face stern and blank

"Steve, I do want to explain but it's hard," I looked down at the floor. "Steve I left due to the red room, Dreykov was still alive and it just wasn't sitting with me right. What I did to you wasn't right in any way but it had to be done and what I said earlier it's true and if your happy with Sharon then I'll let you guys be but I wanted to tell you the truth before you go live happily ever after with Sharon''

I looked back up waiting for a response "I appreciate you telling me your true feelings but I have stuff to do I'll see you around" he said turning around and walking out of my room

I was left alone in my room, to be with my thoughts in peace, but what is peace without love in ones life

The team has slowly been trusting me again, they have been allowing me in meetings and team discussions. I'm still not allowed on missions but I do help them behind a computer when they need it

Besides being in my room, you can either find me in the training room or living room. I have been cooking myself up in my room, not wanting to bother the team, it was just an ordinary night when I was called down by Jarvis to talk with the team

"What's up?" I asked walking into the room

Everyone was sitting around the table, looking at me. "Tori we have a mission for you" Tony said standing up and walking towards me, handing me a creme color folder

"What's this for?" I asked

"Open it" he turned his back to me, walking back to the chair he was sitting in before

I opened the file and started reading the contents inside of it, it was a recon mission in Washington D.C. "Why am I being sent to Washington D.C. we have a whole base there" I complained. I don't really want to leave the tower and more than I need to at this moment in time

"So what else am I going to be doing because otherwise you would send another agent to do this" I dropped the cream colored folder down on the table. I looked right into Tony's eyes

"Peter is having a school field trip and I want to make sure everything goes according to plan and that means you really aren't looking for anything but playing tour guide for a group of teenagers" he stood up meeting my stance, not putting up with my bullshit anymore

I backed down my stance, showing Tony I wasn't going to be tough anymore. I want to gain the teams trust not destroy it even more, "But I don't want to" I whined sitting in the chair

"To bad we need someone to go and make sure the kid doesn't get into trouble" he put up a projection of Peter in the Spider-Man suit getting into trouble

"Well what if I say no what you going to do then?" I asked mockingly

"Tori if you want to be apart of the team again go with Peter and his class and the team and I will think about letting you rejoin again" he said crossing his arms

"Fine" I said giving in to his terms
