Chapter 48:Aunty Nat

“Okay” I said walking out of the tree fort again, and towards the house.  Tony falling close behind, and watching my every move trying not to fall into another booby trap again

“Are we almost there yet?” Tony whined from behind us 

“Yes big baby brother” I retorted back at him, holding in a laugh 

“God shut up” he said crossing his arms, like a two year old not getting his way

“By the way, why did you guys even follow me out here?” I asked 

“Oh we were bored and we wanted to meet yours, and Steve’s child” he said as innocently as possible 

“Of course you guys where” I said rolling my eyes 

We walked the rest of the way in silence, ‘thank god’ I might have punched him, if he kept talking.  The house was quiet so either Steve, and Nat never made it back to the house, or they were all sleeping.  I’m going with option one

I walked into the house and Yelena was eating in the kitchen, but no sign of anybody else in the house.  “Yelena I would like to introduce my brother again” I said stepping aside so Yelena could see Tony 

“Hi” they both exchanged introductions, and smiled towards each other.  “Yelena do you know where Steve is?” I asked

“No he hasn’t come back yet why?” she replied to my question, with another question 

“It's just getting dark and I don’t want him or Nat to get hurt out in the woods” I said putting Anya down

“Anya go get your PJ’s on and I’m going to find dad okay” I said crouching down to my knees

“Okay mommy” she said running off towards her room

I walked out of the house, and back into the woods.  I jumped on our four wheeler, and drove right in, making sure to stay on the clear paths

Soon I came across them wondering lost around the woods “Hey need a ride?” I questioned, snickering at my own comment

“Yes please” Nat said racing after me, and jumping on the back of the four wheeler 

“Steve you coming?” I asked looking at him 

“Yeah” he said hoping on the back as well

We drove through the forest, bumps making the four wheeler jump.  “Wow cool” I heard Nat say as a deer went running through the woods

“Oh that's not even the coolest thing here” I said laughing 

We drove the rest of the way in silence, except for the occasional ‘ohs’ and ‘ahs’ from Steve, and Nat.  Once the house came into view, I started driving slower, swinging up in front of the door.  Letting Steve, and Nat jump off, I took off into the other direction going to put the four wheeler away

Once I walked into the house, after locking up the four wheeler, the house was filled with laughter.  I walked into the kitchen, and everyone was smiling

“What's so funny?” I asked, they all turned their attention to me and started laughing more, “What?” I asked again

“Oh we are just laughing at this photo of you and Anya when she was younger” Yelena said holding up the photo for me to see

It was the same one that is the home screen on my phone, with us both sticking out tongues out and crossing our eyes 

“Oh that photo was a blast to take, Anya was two at that point” I said smiling 

“Yeah” Anya said agreeing with me 

“Alright how about we say goodnight and head to bed” I said extending my arms towards her

“Mom can I stay up later please” she whined giving me puppy dog eyes

“No” I said putting my hands on my hips, “It's time for bed” I walked over to her and picked her up.  “Blow everyone a kiss and you can see them all in the morning” I turned her so she could see everyone, and once they all got a kiss I walked us out of the room

We got into Anya’s room, she got in her bed.  “Mommy can you sing me my song please?” she asked 

”Sure” I said, taking a deep breath, I covered her up and started to sing.  “Go to sleep, go to sleep my sweet little Peanut butter, Mama is holding you sweet and sound” I watched as her eyes slowly started to close.  “You’ll be just fine in my arms, go to sleep and you’ll dream of a happy family” I kept singing until she was fully asleep 

When she fell asleep, I gave her a quick kiss, and left the room.  Everyone was now down in the living room watching videos of Anya from when she was a baby.  “Oh you guys found the videos” I said sitting next to Steve 

“Yeah I thought why not show Steve Anya when she was smaller” Yelena said smiling over at me from her chair

“Yeah he has the right to know now” I said, the smile dropping from my face 

“Hey it's alright” Steve said, grabbing my waist and lifting me onto his lap.  I was looking down at my hands, but Steve hooked his fingers under my chin and made me look at him.  “Please” he gave me puppy dog eyes 

“Okay but I’m going to bed” I said quietly getting off of his lap, “Yelena can show you guys where you will sleep but if you’ll excuse me I need some alone time” I walked out of the living room and let out a breath I was holding in 

I got to my room and sat down on the bed, this thing is making me uneasy.  Having Anya now knowing her family, knowing who her dad is, is amazing but its so stressful

I still don’t know what Steve truly thinks about this whole situation and it really brings out the anxiety in me.  I was breathing so hard I hadn’t heard somebody come in the room 

“Tori” the voice said but I was too wrapped up in my own thoughts that I hadn’t felt the hand on my shoulder, or the tears falling down my face 

“Hmm” I mumbled lifting my head up 

“Tori whats wrong please talk to me” it was Steve who was worried about me

“Steve I’m sorry” I cried out loud “I failed you” there I finally said it and faced the truth

“Hey, hey, hey you didn’t fail anyone” he pulled my face to look at him “You understand me you kept everyone safe and didn’t hurt anyone in the process” he brought his lips down to my face and kissed me 

“But I kept your own daughter from you and you tell me that, how are you not mad?” I asked my tears making my vision blurry 

“Tori I’m not mad because you did it to save our daughter and the rest of your life” he said wiping the tears from my eyes

“Your right” I said sniffling 

“Yes I am right and don’t you forget it” he said moving away from me and laying on the side of the bed, on top of the covers “Now come lay down and go to sleep”

He patted the bed, and I crawled over to him.  I went under the covers and looked at him “You can sleep under the covers with me, we have a child together Steve, and plus I never stopped loving you so please come under the covers and cuddle with me” I pleaded 

“Okay” he said, hoping under the covers and cuddling into me.  “Now go to sleep” he said running his fingers through my hair, and running his other hand up and down my arm
