Tyler's pov

Month 44 prt 3

He's wrong. I'm not afraid of leaving, I'm not afraid of running. And just to prove him wrong, I'm going out in public today. I'm gonna go shopping for food and then I'm gonna get Joshua a present, because although I'm mad at him, I love him and we just got married so I need to buy him a present. But he's wrong either way!

I don't know what to get him, I was thinking of just getting him a cake as we didn't have one, but I also want an actual present. I could get both, but we don't have that much money seeing as we spent almost 2 grand the other day. Ah fuck it, I'll get both.

///

"Finding everything okay?" A worker asks.

I look up at him and smile. "Yeah! I'm just looking for a cake to give my husband."

"Okay, well let me know if I can help you!" He smiles.

"Thanks so much."

He nods and walks away. He seems nice.

His favorite kind of cake is carrot, but I hate carrot cake. I could do this split cheese cake, but he doesn't like cheese cake. Maybe I could just ditch the cake, I don't think he would care. I could get a pie, we both like banana cream pie, so I could go with that. I don't think they have any though, not from what I can see. God, I am so glad we did not have a wedding because deciding on a cake together would be actual hell.

Okay, no cake. Just a present.

"Can't find anything?" The same worker asks as I start walking away.

I turn back and chuckle. "No, we don't like the same cake and I can't find any of the pie we both like so I think I'm just gonna cut the cake."

"Oh, what pie are you looking for? We might have it in the back."

"Really? Just a banana cream pie."

"Actually, there's one right here!" He smiles, pulling one out from behind the display. "Here you go." He slides it over to me.

"Oh my God, thank you so much!"

"Of course, is that all you're looking for?"

"Yes, this is perfect. Thank you!"

"Anytime, you have a good day."

"You too, thanks!" I wave and smile at him then turn around.

I love nice people, it's so refreshing from dealing with such asshats. Anyways, I have no idea what to get him as a present. What's even a good wedding present? I could get him a watch, that would be good. But he's not really a watch person, nor am I rich enough to buy a good watch. I could get him new shoes, he has been complaining that his are wearing out. And he does stand on his feet all day. Yeah, lets do that.

This store doesn't sell shoes.

Fuck, I need to put this pie in the fridge or it'll go bad, but I need the shoes before Joshua gets home. Ugh, I could just save the shoes for tomorrow? That's stupid, I'm already out. I could just ask the guy to save the pie, go buy the shoes then come back and get the pie again. That's so much driving, I don't wanna do that. Here, I'll just quickly rush this to the house then go buy the shoes, I can do that.

"Hi, did you find everything okay?" The cashier asks.

I nod and pull out my wallet, getting my bank card. "Yes sir, the guy by the bakery was a great help."

//

Pulling into a parking spot, I shut off the car and unload from it. I wasted a few hours at the house playing with Jim so now it's a little late and Joshua should be home shortly so I don't have much time but that's okay. I walk past a few people, into the store and walk back to the shoe section. He and I have the same size foot, or just about, but it's only the color that matters the most. He doesn't like flashy things, or basic colors.

"Tyler?" A voice says behind me.

I turn around and smile. "Jordan! How's it going?"

"It's good! What're you doing here?" He asks, giving me a quick hug.

"I'm just buying Joshua new shoes, his old pair is wearing out."

"Oh that's cool, is he here with you? I feel like it's been so long since I've seen you guys."

"Unfortunately he's working, I'm buying them as a wedding present."

"He got married?" He asks, giving me a confused look.

"Uh, yeah. We got married just the other day."

"You guys had a wedding and didn't invite me?"

"We didn't have a wedding, we just went to the town hall and got married. I told him to invite you but he was worried you wouldn't go, or wouldn't want to."

"Why wouldn't I want to go?"

"I don't know Jordan, that's what I asked him. He's gonna be home soon if you want to go over and talk to him about it."

"Should I wait for you to be done shopping?" He asks.

"Oh no, that's okay. I'll be done shortly, I can give you my key so if he isn't home you can just go in."

"Really? He wouldn't get mad at you for that?"

"Jordan, you're his brother. No, he wouldn't get mad at me for letting you in."

He laughs and shakes his head. "Okay, yeah then I'll do that."

"Okay," I smile and take out my lanyard from my pocket, pulling off the house key. "There, the front door is broken so you don't have to worry about being locked out."

"Thank you so much, Tyler." He takes the key and gives me another hug. "I'll see you soon, yeah?"

"Yeah." I nod. "Drive safe J."

"You too, Ty." He walks away, leaving me a little stunted.

I haven't been called that since Brendon, that's a little weird. I shake my head and continue looking around.

//

"Oh shit, sorry." I laugh after walking into someone.

"You're good." He says.

His voice makes me stop in my tracks, makes my bones go hollow and my heart ache. I turn to look at him, seeing his devious grin.

"B-Brendon?"

"Hi Tyler." He says.

I go to speak, but nothing comes out before something covers my head. A voice speaks behind me but the fabric muffles the sound. I'm being swept off my feet and tossed into what I can only assume is the back of a van. This is not happening. This is not fucking happening, holy shit. Oh my God, this is not happening. Joshua was right, he was fucking right. We should've gone, we should've gone. Oh my God, he was right.
