When Melanie got back into the car crying after her meeting with her sister, he knew he had to do something to make her happy again. He fought the urge to get out of the car and just knock some sense into Victoria. Of course Melanie didn't tell him what exactly happened and it frustrated him to the point he wanted to rip his own hair off.
He understood her need to regain her independence since Yoongi mostly kept her in a glass box. Not wanting her to make her own choices, her own decisions, he understood the importance of finding herself. What he didn't understand was her refusal to accept any help. Sometimes it was good to lean on someone else for a chance. He didn't see the point of stressing, of pushing oneself over the limit when help was literally so close. Yet, he didn't argue. He didn't want to put an edge between them. He cared for her like she was his sister. That was one of the reasons a relationship between them would never work out.
They both cared too much about one another. Having something else instead of a beautiful, pure friendship would feel like incest. So he promised himself that he will make her happy again. Maybe she would start leaning on him, or anyone else, he didn't care who helped her, as long as she didn't have to struggle by herself. He would never take away her chance of taking her own road, he just wanted to be next to her. Give her his shoulder to cry, or laugh on.
Taehyung prepared an unforgettable day at the amusement park. First things first, they took the train ride, though in perfect honesty Melanie only went with it because it made Taehyung happy, she was scared to her bones by the death ride, as she used to call it. Going up and down, left and right made her head spin and mixed her thoughts, not to mention her stomach which felt like scrambled eggs.
"You okay?" Taehyung asked concerned latched on his words as Melanie sat on the grass, her head resting on her knees, her eyes closed, trying to catch her breath.
"Yeah. I was trying to count the grass."
Taehyung released a relieved laugh and sat next to her. "Come on. Buckle up Buttercup. The next ones are easier."
He winked at her and she winced, nonetheless she recovered faster than she thought at first, and allowed him to drag her to the teacups. That was a lot more bearable, she liked the teacups. What truly made her heart sing, was the carousel. It made her feel like a kid again. A time where things where a lot easier, simpler times.
He purchased a cotton candy to share, and together they sat on a bench near a fish pond, away from the crowd. Melanie tucked her feet underneath and leaned her head on his shoulder.
"I'm so happy to have you in my life. You mean the world to me."
"Yeah yeah. I'm your precious diamond." He laughed, then took a deep breath. "Jin is looking for an assistant."
"You know Victoria blacklisted me, he won't hire me."
He rolled his eyes. "My brother doesn't care about those stuff. Come on, just try. As much as you want to live independently, it's hard not having a proper job."
"Tae, I have a job." She looked at him as if he grew a new head.
He pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. "I know. But it's not a job you love."
"I don't think there are people who love standing up and running all over the place, but it's a job. It provides."
"Come on just try."
"He will hire me just because I'm your friend."
"You know Jin. He's fair. He won't hire you if you're not competent."
"Do you think so?"
"Bitch, are you fucking serious? Can't you like compromise once in your life time? You know it's not that damn hard to say yes to help once in a while."
