After taking a nap, Frida woke up feeling a bit dizzy and with a headache, her eyes felt heavy, too. She yawned and stretched a bit to later take a deep breath, she had no idea of the time. She got out of bed and left the room to meet Lotta with a tray full of cheese balls and on her way to her room. "Is Benny home?" She just asked.
"He's in the basement," Lotta's mouth was full so she could barely understand her.
"Thank you," she replied and continued on her way. She went down the stairs and there was an immense silence in the house, she was still a bit lost so she stopped for a few seconds to remember which was the way to the basement, she went to the left and crossed to the basement stairs, opened the door to go down and immediately heard the melody of the piano, Benny was playing.
"Anybody could be that guy, night is young and the music's high! With a bit of rock music everything is fine... You're in the mood for a dance," she stayed at the foot of the stairs so as not to interrupt and get him to keep playing the tune because for some reason she felt that she was having a deja vu. She didn't exactly remember the lyrics but she had a notion, she couldn't hold back anymore when she heard him play and she kept going down until he noticed her presence and stopped playing.
"Don't stop," she asked him. "Can you continue? please," Benny was confused but he complied, put his fingers on the keys again and continued to play the Dancing Queen tune. Frida had goose bumps and she felt as if she was rising, suddenly an immense happiness and desire to cry. The feeling was indescribable, she felt that she knew the lyrics but she still could not proceed, the memory of it was vague. She opted to sit next to Benny while he slid to the other side a bit to allow her to be comfortable while he played. No one said anything, they just enjoyed that piece. Frida closed her eyes and tried to relax to try if she could remember something once and for all. "You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life; ooh see that girl, watch that scene," when he heard her hum the lyrics, Benny had to stop and looked at her immediately, the happiness showed on his face.
"Have you heard it before?" he asked in amazement.
"No," she replied. "I..." she was confused but she felt happy and she didn't know how to explain it. "I can't remember the lyrics well, but I have little memories and I can remember the melody," she added now somewhat frustrated.
"Digging the dancing queen..." Benny played that last part smiling, what was happening was good news.
"Do you want to try?" he handed her a sheet with the lyrics of the song. Frida held it in her hands and began to read, now she was trembling, he could tell because the sheet didn't stop shaking. Benny started the song from the beginning and although it took Frida a moment to tune in and go along with it, she was able to pull it off.
"Friday night and the lights are low, looking out for a place to go. When they play the right music, getting in the swing, you come to look for a king." Although there were moments that she was lost, Benny tried to adapt the melody to her and they succeeded, she sang the whole song now with the lyrics and by the end she was already crying, it was a wonderful feeling and she finally felt part of something after so long, she felt that she could do anything.
"Good job!" Benny exclaimed smiling at her and then he put his hands around her shoulder bringing her to his chest to hug her, he knew she was excited and that's why she was crying.
"Sorry, I don't know what's wrong with me," she apologized.
"You don't have to apologize for that," he kissed her forehead and rubbed her arm. "Do you want me to tell you a nice story with this song? Perhaps that way you will understand your reaction." Frida nodded and looked up at him to pay attention, she was interested in hearing. "When Björn and I created the melody and that, on the night when I came home I brought what we had created on a tape and I played it for you, you started crying just like now and you were very moved, you knew from the beginning that it would be a success. It was our first number one in the great market of the United States of America, it is really special for all of us."
