"I can't see shit," Lexie complained, squinting to see the road in front of her.

Her and Erin had been to dinner with Tony and Pepper, who'd recently gotten back together. They'd gone to Tonys favorite burger place and it had gotten quite late by the time they were done.

Now, as they were driving home, it was dark out and the rain was falling down heavily. It was nearly impossible to see what was in front of them and Lexie had to drive slower that normal so they wouldn't crash into another car or drive into a sign or something.

"Me neither, it's really coming down out there," Erin muttered, leaning forward to look out the window. She turned to look at Lexie. "How long 'till we're home?"

"Should be about five minutes, but it'll probably take 'round ten when I have to drive this slowly."

"Good. I'm exhausted," she sighed tiredly.

"I know, babe," she reached over and squeezed her hand, before quickly putting it back on the wheel. "Just rest your eyes for a sec, okay?"

"I don't want to leave you alone."

"I don't mind," she said gently. "I'll wake you up when we're there."

"Oka..." Erin let out a yelp when one of the front wheels drove over and bump and Lexie immediately hit the breaks. "What was that," she asked with wide eyes.

"Not sure." Lexie unbuckled her seatbelt, pulled up her hood and stepped out. "Please don't be an animal, please don't be an animal." She leaned down. "Ohh, it's an animal," she said sadly. "Erin! Get out here!"

"Oh my god," Erin gasped when she saw what Lexie was frowning it.

A black cat was lying dead on the cold ground, its middle part flat after the car had driven over it.

"Of course it had to be a black cat," Lexie frowned. "That's bad luck."

"Lex!"

"Right. Not the time." She laid her hand on its head, stroking its fur softly.

"We killed a cat." Erin had tears welling up in her eyes.

Lexie couldn't stand seeing Erin sad and looked at the cat with a determined expression. "I can fix it."

"What..?" she sniffled.

"I'll fix it," Lexie finalized. She put her hand on the cats stomach and closed her eyes.

She honestly didn't know if she could do this. The aliens during the attack on New York hadn't been alive in the same way anything from earth was. And she hadn't brought them back, she'd just taken control of their dead bodies for as long as she needed them and it took almost everything out of her.

What she'd be doing now was something different. She'd be bringing the cat back from the dead, permanently.

She didn't even know if she could do it, but figured it was worth a shot.
