"Hello?"
"Erin, it's Tony."
"Oh my God, hey. Is everything okay? You don't sound that good. Do you know where Lex is? She's not picking up her phone."
"Lexie's... Lexie's gone."
"... What?"
"She didn't make it."
"What? No- but..."
"I'm sorry."

Alexandra Williams
1997 - 2023
Daughter - Friend - Avenger
Erin Parker stood in front of the two graves, staring at the headstone of the woman she loved; the woman who had sacrificed herself to save someone she loved; the woman who'd been taken from them way too soon.
She felt someone walk up next to her, but didn't need to turn to see who it was. "She would've hated this," she pointed at the stone. "She never used her full name. It was always just Lexie."
Tony let out a sad chuckle and nodded. "Yeah. I think the only time she liked her name was when we made it Morgans middle name. She'd still smack anyone who called her Alexandra though." He looked over at the young woman beside him. "How're you holding up?"
She took a deep breath. "It's weird, you know? For you and Lex, five years passed, but for me, it was no time. One moment I was waiting for her to come home from dealing with another alien invasion. The next, I received a phone call telling me she was dead. How am I supposed to be doing?"
"I'm sorry," Tony said. He didn't know what else to say... It was him Lexie had died for. He was the reason she was dead, even though he hadn't killed her. So what was he supposed to say to her partner.
Erin looked over at him. "I don't blame you." She turned her head back to look at the view in front of her. "And you shouldn't feel guilty, Lexie knew what she was doing... She loved you, you know? I don't think anyone understands how much. She didn't have anything when you met. You gave her a home, a family, showed her what it felt like to be loved unconditionally... And as much as she loved me, she was still able to live without me, because she still had you. You, on the other hand... I don't think she could do it."
Tony didn't say anything. He knew that, in a way, she was right. Lexie had her flaws - the circumstances of her childhood had seen to that. She was extremely attached and emotionally dependent on the people around her, especially him and Natasha. They were, after all, the people who'd looked after her most of her life; Natasha in S.H.I.E.L.D., and him after S.H.I.E.L.D.. He was aware of this, but he was never too concerned by it because he never imagined Lexie being left alone. But then Natasha had died, and he was about to die as well. Lexie had the power to stop it, so even though she knew it would kill her, she still did it, because she couldn't bare to lose both of them.
