Courtney's POV
"One day they will come for us
Like poison dripping in our blood
Blind devotion's not enough
Can't go on with all I should
Feels like a masquerade
Who's the man behind the mask
You better watch your back
You better watch your back
We're standing face to face with the hearts that turned to black
You better watch your back."That's not creepy at all.
"Could you please turn the song off?" I asked the taxi driver.
"Not a fan of rock?" He asked as he turned it off.
"Just... not in the mood." I answered.
"Oh, what happened? Boyfriend break up with you?" He asked.
I wish.
"I don't really want to talk about it." I told him.
"Oh, one of those times." He said, "I got you."
I choked on air, "No no! My... brothers are just sick is all."
"Oh ok. Sorry." He apologized.
"It's fine." I told him.
I looked back at the window, watching as the buildings passed by in a blur.
Weren't we going a little fast? Where is all the traffic?
I frowned, about to ask the driver, but then he started talking.
"You know, I had another kid once, looked a lot like you. Red eyes, scraggly hair, wrinkled clothes, almost as if he'd spent all day in taxi's. He asked me to take him 10 miles east, just like you. Turns out he was a run away and he had been catching cabs for the past week. He had came all the way from main." The guy said.
My eyes widened, "I just got home from work, I work the night shift and my apartment is simply 10 miles east of there."
"I picked you up at a gas station."
"That's where I work." I told him.
"How old are you?" He asked.
"18 and three quarters." I told him.
He nodded, focusing on the road, that now had a few black taxi's joining us.
"So how did you find out about the kid?" I asked.
"The organization of taxi's found out he was in the area and sent us all an alert to look out for him." He said.
"I didn't know there was an organization of taxi's." I told him honestly.
"Yes well, not many people know about us. We're better known by our other name." He said.
"What is it?" I asked, watching as a few suspicious black cars got on the road with us.
They began to come towards our car, along with the taxi's. Oh no.
I realized the driver was being quiet and I looked up, meeting his eyes in the mirror.
"Hydra."
A taxi's slammed into the other side of the car, sending us careening towards a building. I screamed, trying to open my door and jumped, but we were spinning and the car was going to fast.
I opened the door and unbuckled my seat belt, but then the front of the car crashed into the building.
I cried out as everything happened too fast. My body hit the door and my arm broke with a sickening crack, the head hit the window, which shattered. I fell out the door and hit the ground, slightly skidding with my momentum.
