Courtney's POV

I watched silently as Steve and a few other people carried Peggy Carter's coffin go the front of the room.

He had tears in his eyes, but they did not fall. Pain was written all over his face.

He came back when it was done and sat down next to me.

"And now, a word from Shannon Carter, her niece." The lady at the front said.

A blone woman stepped forward, looking at Steve for a moment before speaking. Steve didn't notice her glance because he was looking down, at his feet.

I didn't pay much attention to her words because Sam was reaching over me and patting Steve's knee. Steve looked up at Shannon Carter and his eyes widened.

Shannon would look at him too every once in a while.

Why is he acting so surprised? Shouldn't he know people who knew Peggy? I mean, they're both at his funeral.

After she was done speaking, the woman left the stage and I never saw her after that, but Steve seemed imapcted.

After a while everyone filed out, even Sam, who was on a schedule.

Steve was standing up in the isle and I remained seated and quiet, so that he could think and process. I mean, thats what google told me to do at least.

I heard the door open and I turned around, seeing Natasha enter.

"So who else signed?" He asked her.

"Tony, Rhodey, Vision." Natasha said.

"Clint?"

"He says he retired."

"Wanda?"

"TBD."

Steve paused.

"I'm off to Venna for the signing of the Accords. There's room for one more on the trip." She said.

Steve looked down.

"Just because it's the path of least resistance doesn't mean it's wrong. Staying together is important." Natasha said.

"So what are we giving up to do it?" Steve asked.

Natasha let out a long sigh.

"I know." She said.

"So what are you doing here?" Steve asked.

"I didn't want you be alone." Natasha said and they hugged.

I'm right here.

If this was the moment, I would point that out, but because this is a funeral, I'll keep quiet. You're welcome Peggy.

They let go and Natasha walked away, Steve looked down at me.

"What do you think?" He asked.

"About Natasha?" I asked.

"No, about the Accords." He said, sitting down.

"I think freedom is something I haven't always had and now that I have it, I would never give it away." I told him.

"I thought so." He replied, nodding.

I watched Jake and Damian playing with two spoons, sword fighting with them. The door opened and Sam walked in, he came over and sat down on the hotel couch.

"Where's Steve?" I asked.

"Having a talk with Shannon." He said.
